the pov changes and facts in the audiobook thrown in is confusing the hell out of me. i'll circle back later
I binged this in two days!
I loved the premise of this book. It deals with topics like racism, homophobia, and suicide. I loved Chiamaka and Devon so much!!! I loved how their friendship grew and became this beautiful thing while all of this freaking shit was happening.
I loved Devon's moment with his mom, and I loved him and Terrell together. The ending was very satisfying and I literally cheered when it happened.
I did guess two of the main plot twists but it was enjoyable nonetheless.

I was ready for this to be an absolute masterpiece. And it was. The love, and yearning was so poetic, lyrical, and beautiful. I loved how at the beginning the world in this book was blurry, the focus was on the letters, and the blossoming relationship between Blue and Red.
The writing was so mesmerizing. Blue and Red's story is one of my absolute favorite love stories. I loved the way they wrote those letters, especially the bee one! I need to get a physical copy so I can annotate the hell out of it.
I feel like this is a book where you either love or hate it. And you won't know until you read it.

This moved at a breakneck speed, that everything was underdeveloped, and felt one dimensional.
There was no chemistry between Lore and any of the two potential love interests. One of them is emotionally constipated, and the other... I don't even have a word about the other one.
I loved the library setting, but unfortunately we only had a few chapters in it :(. The book tried to tell a story about the power of knowledge, stolen history, and fighting to learn the truth, but that was pushed aside for... you guessed THE ROMANCE.
The plot was clunky, and there were so many time jumps, it didn't make sense.

WTF was happening in this book???
Okay at first I liked Gideon, and Harrowhark, but the more time went on the more I've become detached from them and the whole story. I was really intrigued by the magic and excited to learn more (Spoiler alert! we barely learn anything about the magic).
you get thrust in the middle of the world with no information whatsoever about anything honestly, and I was okay with that, until I reached page 100 after that I was so over this book.
If you ask me about the world building in this book I will not be able to answer you, because there was no world building. It says 'Lesbians in space', yeah the space it's talking about only gets mentioned once and not in a very informative way. Gideon and Harrowhark's relationship was 'Oh I hope you die' to 'I don't want you to die' suddenly that I thought I missed some chapter or something.
I was engaged a little towards the end but what happened was so predictable I didn't have any reaction and I frankly didn't care.
I will not be continuing this series.

That's what happens when I don't read the synopsis. I thought this was going to continue about the Wayfarer crew but it's not. 😭
This is completely my fault but it was disappointing. However, I did enjoy Sidra's (Lovey) journey, and Pepper's past. Blue and Tak were cute. Some parts were repetitive and boring, and I didn't really love the characters the way I love the Wayfarer crew :(.
I liked how everything came together at the end, it was wholesome and cute.
I'm curious to see what the third book is about.

I AM UNWELL.
Sequel syndrome? don't know her!!
This is even better than the first book and that was a 5 star book!!! hence the 6 star rating.
Buckle up because you're in for a wild ride!!! I actually experienced releasing a breath I didn't know I was holding every few chapters. I feared for Bree, I feared for Alice, I feared for Sel, I feared for Nik, I feared for myself because I've been on edge the whole time reading this book. I am a Bree and Alice friendship keeper, if you have something to say about them or their friendship say it to me. I loved seeing more of Bree and Alice, and I am officially announcing that I love sel too in all his grumpy glory. Loved seeing the Rootcrafters community and learning more about them. Valec have been added to my favorite warlocks list.
I'm scared to read the third book.
NOW GO READ THIS SERIES PLEASE AND THANK YOU.
