You Are a Badass at Making Money: Master the Mindset of Wealth by Jen Sincero

Initially I completely overlooked the second part of the title and was a little disappointed in it just being a mindset book and does not really teach you how to work with and grow your money. Jen Sincero is very enthusiastic but the book lacks practicality. If you are someone who struggles with the mindset part of money and don’t think you are worthy of making money, you’ll find this book interesting!
As a child I always heard the grownups around me say that money is evil and Sincero does a good job at busting those myths.

Her writing style is very American (which I didn’t necessarily enjoy all the time) but nevertheless an easy read for any beginner.

She does tend to be repetitive and I had to take breaks as it can get tedious, but I imagine this is to make sure the subject gets through to you.
Homo Deus: A Brief History of Tomorrow by Yuval Noah Harari

Another thought-provoking book from Harari! I absolutely adored ‘Homo Sapiens’ - I personally found it more interesting than ‘Homo Deus’ as I’m not as interested in AI, algorithms, economic growth and politics as much as I should be perhaps, but I still wanted to know what he might speculate about the future.

I did very much enjoy reading how he dissects religion (how it came to be, why people keep believing, the difference between religion and a spiritual journey), plagues, famines, wars, modern threats to human life, how productivity doesn’t necessarily equal satisfaction, mental health and how we treat animals (and perhaps how future, upgraded humans may treat the homo sapiens that we know today).

I found that he was also much more light-hearted (at least in the beginning of the book) than he was in ‘Homo Sapiens’ which I appreciated, but in the same breath, towards the end of the book the vibes did become a little depressing (especially in the terms of global warming and the possible fate of modern humans), but he also does state multiple times that the book is not a prophecy but potential future possibilities.

Nevertheless, would recommend giving it a read and I’m glad I did!

I’ve read this book once before and really enjoyed it. I’ve read The Butterfly Room of this author and did not enjoy it at all and was pretty nervous I wouldn’t enjoy this book again. I fell out of reading and back into it and decided to pick up this series again, and I’m happy to say I enjoyed it in equal measure once again! I absolutely love the atmospheric scenes Lucinda Riley describes, as well as all the traveling and mystery. The storyline is great and I loved the characters as well!
The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco

Did not finish book. Stopped at 47%.
I made it to chapter 20. It’s not a bad book at all, there were just too many characters introduced which most of were either unlikeable or I just didn’t care for them. The story also kind of started to drag. Buuut there were times I literally would have listened to this rather than ACOTAR so… Would probably be good for people aged 13-18?
