This collection was pretty hit or miss for me. There were some stories I absolutely loved. There were some I finished and was like “What did I even read? What was that about?”

Absolutely loved this book! I was only 1/3 of the way through when I knew I had to buy her other 2 books. Such a fun read

This is a collection of essays. Some of them really sparkled and inspired me to look up the writer’s other works - Dylan Landis, Carmen Maria Machado. Others fell flat - sort of boring. Still, an interesting portrayal of mother/child relationships throughout the lifespan.

This book was a little slow moving (which I usually don’t mind but this was trying my patience) and then the last 100 pages are full of action. Awesome story, intriguing characters.

As I neared the end of this book, I started to get sad that it was ending. The writers share their own personal life experiences, good and bad, and how Toni Morrison’s novels have helped them through it or relate to their lives. By the end, I felt like the authors were my friends.
