What a quick read and amazing story. It's often so easy to judge a situation when looking in from the outside. But once you are in the situation yourself you begin to understand just how difficult it is to get out. I've have been witness to two friends who have had the disfortune of finding themselves in a situation like Lily.
This story does such a great job at showing us just how easy it is to get trapped in this cycle. It may start off slowly with things we can easily brush off and progressibly get worse, asking yourself how you got there.
The whole time I'm reading this I can sense the red flags waving in the "sutle" gestures that we can sometimes misconstrue as cute and charming. I find myself trying to see the good in Ryle while simultaneously begging Lily to leave.
I love a quote that Lily's mom says to her, " a man who loves you won't allow you to take them back after they hurt you. He would make the decision to leave you himself so that he knows for a fact he can never hurt you again".
