This was a lyrical, poetic read that was a perfect balance between a character driven and plot driven novel. The magic system was incredibly easy to understand and executed to perfection. My only note to the author is that Elspeth was such an intriguing character that we lost any potential development on the others, making then feel flat. The side characters had so much to offer, and yet it felt as though I was wanting more
