I picked this up completely on a whim and I didn’t know to expect from it but I totally adored it! This was so good, I loved Archer and Sabrina, but I also love all the other characters. It was cute, funny, sweet, spicy, and romantic and I loved the journey.

I just love Kristen Granata books. They’re funny, emotional, sweet, and spicy and this one seems made for me with all the tropes I like- found family, fake marriage, motorcycle riding hockey player, as well as he falls first. It’s just too good and I love the family dynamics that came into play with this one. My biggest complaint was that the pacing was a little funny in places because of time jumps but it wasn’t confusing, just took me a minute to orient myself. Overall I loved this one and I think that Alex is one of my favorite mmcs.

I listened to the audiobook for this and I really liked it. The narrator did a great job with the voicing and the pacing.

I really liked the book overall. I thought all of the characters were interesting and I enjoyed the intrigue of the mystery. I also loved the way Death was depicted. I will for sure be reading the next book.

I’ll be honest, I started this because I saw the movie. When I watched the movie, I didn’t know it was based off a book series. Once I found out, I knew I had to read it and I am so glad I did.

I love Odd as a character. He is unique (or odd, as his name would suggest) and I found him so endearing and I was so invested in his story. I appreciated the depth of his backstory that you gain in the book; knowing the upbringing that he had on this level made me like him even more.

I loved the way this story was constructed. It’s a twist on a paranormal thriller that really pulled me in and kept me hooked the whole way through. I’m really looking forward to reading the next book.
emotional sad

I liked this one more than the first book in the series (even though I actually really like Ethan and Mikayla- the writing in the beginning of the first one just took a minute to find its rhythm). I like Liam’s character a lot and I felt like this was a good approach to a story with DV in it, that can be a hard topic to navigate. I like Hockey House and all those characters bring levity to the story that I think is really needed here.

If you picked up this book for the actual hockey, this will probably fall short for you, there is much less of that on page in this one. Outside of mentions of games and practices, we don’t see the guys actually play on the ice much. This didn’t bother me because of Hockey House, but it’s worth noting if you like seeing the characters play the sport in a sports romance.

I don’t know if I even have the words- I have always loved Haymitch but this story made me connect with him even more and it was devastating. I cried more than I thought I could through this one. I don’t know if I will recover.

I am a huge mood reader and as a result, my ratings are based heavily on the vibes of a book while I read. Press Play was such a good vibe the whole way through! To start, this has all the great banter and wit I’ve come to know and love from Amber Paige’s writing, but it also had emotional depth that tugged at my heart and had me deeply invested in these characters.

Something I think Amber does exceptionally well is creating a top tier cast of characters for each book she writes, and this is no exception. The dynamic between Theo and Wren was so lovely to read. These two have a friendship built to stand the test of time. I love that their foundation is so strong from the very beginning.

Theo’s mom is my favorite support character because of the role she plays in the story of Wren and Theo. She is a great balance to Wren’s mom and I thought it was a very clever way to really highlight what Wren experienced growing up and why Theo is the man that he is.

I really loved this story and while it is definitely very spicy (given what Theo does for a living, there should be no surprise there 😉), that’s not the only thing that makes Press Play worth reading.

Well, I am not even a little bit surprised that I adored this book. I loved Evergreen Academy but if it’s possible, I loved Evergreen Conservatory even more.

I am obsessed with the plant magic in this series. I love the way it feels so whimsical, cozy, and wholesome. Heather has done an incredible job weaving together this world and I want to spend as much time as possible there. The characters are people that I want to be friends with! The build of this story from book 1 to book 2 is done so smoothly and the pacing and trajectory feel perfect to me. The added suspense and intrigue is there without feeling way more intense than the first book.

It is still so inviting and such a comfort series for me already that I know this is one I will always revisit. I also will be displaying them proudly on my shelves- Heather has outdone herself with these stunning covers!

If you love magic academy stories, plant magic intrigues you, you enjoy low stakes/light suspense, and a slow burn sub plot, you will love this. I really can’t praise this highly enough, I love it and it is absolutely worth reading.
