The Measure by Nikki Erlick
Did not finish book. Stopped at 56%.

I loved the concept in the mystery surrounding the box and the short or long strings, but this was so dry to read.
I was only captivated in the penpal moments ... that was it.

Hades & Persephone is my favorite! To see this graphic retelling is 🤌🏽
I enjoyed every page of the illustrations and the flow of things!
I have had this copy for a while now, thanks to my amazing book buddy ... and am glad that I was finally able to start it.
Super excited to continue it in the new year 🙌🏽

Even though I loved the timeloop, Mae truly finding out what makes her happy and then saving the cabin ... something irked me!
I think it was the way Theo acted through all of this ... like Mae did not owe you anything! The fact that he gaslighted her into thinking that she led him on throughout the years is insane!
Like we are just going to bypass your player tendencies?! 😒

I listened to the audio while following along in my physical copy ...
I truly enjoyed the action in this story, it had a strong start with all that was going on with the FMC, Seraphine. Then, adding the MMC, Ransom was 🤌🏽
I was not expecting some of these twists and revelations, so the author played those very well ... I do wish the reasoning behind the hit on Seraphine was presented better ... thinking of it now, it felt like it appeared out of nowhere.
I loved the slow burn between Ransom and Seraphine ... but the events leading up the ending honestly pissed me off.
Although it was the reverse of what we see in stories, I just wanted more tbh.
However, this had a strong start to the series ... and I am excited to continue it.

This was not just a Novella ... this is the Novella that makes you want more!
I loved that I hung on every word, just waiting for what was next! I was on the edge of my seat!
I was not expecting some of these twists and turns with some of the characters being as vicious as they were to each other ... like wtf?!
To say I ate this up is an understatement ...
I am ready for so much more, and I am excited that the author will be writing more about these characters ... hopefully, it is VERY soon!
P.S.: If you love TVD, you will love this ... it does not have vampires, BUT hear me out ...

I listened to the audio while following along in ebook ...
I liked the different POVs detailing their life without Phineas.
However, the story did not wow me like book 1.
I had one small sad moment in Autumn's POV ... I can ONLY imagine how challenging it is to continue life without him, especially when prepping for a lifetime change like Autumn was.
I was expecting a bit more from the ending, but there was room for interpretation and/or continuation.
It is so challenging losing someone close to you ... I lost a friend too. It has been so challenging, especially when you want to call them so bad to tell them something.
It would have been nice to have an Epilogue included with "5 years from now" or something ...

I truly wanted to love this ... but I did not.
Although, I did love the gothic, magical vibes of this ... I just could not really love the characters.
The story did not flow as smoothly for me ... I felt there was so much going on with the characters ... and it only really started making sense towards the end.
But then, the ending just did not do it for me.
I am glad that everyone else seems to have loved it, but I guess this just was NOT for me.
