That was good. And i would read a sequel. This brings up a lot of view points on our prison/jail system, social media, the rich/elite & those in poverty. I liked it. & it was pretty faced paced. I may have liked it to slow down a bit at some points so there would be more sub plot development or character development for some of the characters. But yeah, hunger games/battle royale esque.
I wonder if the author actually doesnt agree with the incarceration system we have, or just wrote just to write. The acknowledgements kinda make it seem like it was just a good time and considering the subject matter I would think the experience would be the opposite.
Whoa! And to think this took so long to finish! It was slow going at first but for some reason, the slow pace didn't make me want to stop. In fact, i thought about "what's gonna happen next" when i wasn't reading. And that last 30% or so?! Gabi gobbled this damn book! I will def be reading the finale. I'm so hype. Maybe i should reread it right nowwwww!
I mostly listened to the audio but did do hybrid at some points. I do that a lot of topics were put into this book but it worked for me. It felt relevant and i think the approach was good. It was very interesting to see everything unfold, and most def pulled up a mirror of how we have been in society. It makes you question what can be done to make things better. This was a thought provoking read. I imagine comversations will be had with this one. I may watch the show if it ever airs.
This was kinda slow for me for a good portion. Plus it was hard to keep up with who is who. This is why reading physically and listening when it comes to multiple POVs is paramount. But the storyline is interesting. This might fall under "cozy" and i'm not the biggest fan of "cozy" books because they're too plain and i need a lil som som typically. There was good amounts of drama but I feel like it didn't come on strong until closer to the end. And I wasnt particularly attached to the characters. But not terrible.
