 There could have been good editing to avoid errors as well, but all in all I enjoyed it even if I were not obligated by theDRC, I might not have read the next one, because Henry is not particularly appealing to me.

Ci sarebbe stato bene un buon editing per evitare anche errori di distrazione, ma tutto sommato mi sono divertita anche se non fossi obbligata dalla DRC, forse il prossimo non lo avrei letto, perché Henry non mi sta particolarmente simpatico.

Ein Buch, das auf meinem persönlichen Kontinuum irgendwo zwischen „Das Parfüm“ und „Chocolat“ liegen würde. Die Geschichte dreht sich um die Beziehung zwischen August und Elena, aber ich bin mir nicht ganz sicher, ob man das als Liebe bezeichnen kann, vielleicht eher als Besessenheit als alles andere. August 'sieht' auch Gerüche und fixiert durch seine Schokolade einen ganz bestimmten Moment in seinem Leben, den er auch andere erleben lässt, wie eine ansteckende Synästhesie. Es gab ein paar Momente der Langsamkeit, aber im Allgemeinen ist der Rhythmus straff genug, um nie langweilig zu werden.

Un libro che, se messo su un mio personale continuum si situerebbe a metá tra "Il profumo" e "Chocolat". La storia ruota intorno alla relazione tra August ed Elena, ma non sono proprio sicura che si potrebbe chiamare amore, magari piú ossessione che altro. August inoltre "vede" gli odori ed attraverso la sua cioccolata fissa un momento ben preciso della sua vita, che riesce a far provare anche agli altri, come una sinestesia contagiosa. Ci sono stati dei momenti di fiacca, ma in generale il ritmo é abbastanza serrato da non diventare mai noioso.

Parable of the Talents: A Graphic Novel Adaptation by Octavia E. Butler

While I have not read “The parable of the sower,” this The parable of the talent” can be understood without difficulty. The drawings are appropriate for a story of strenuous struggle against practically everything and everyone and the many sacrifices to which our protagonist is forced. It is neither an easy nor a light plot, but the graphic novel probably makes it more accessible even if its proximity to current reality makes it frightening.

Pur non avendo letto "The parable of the sower", questo The parable of the talent" si capisce senza problemi. I disegni sono adeguati ad una storia di strenua lotta contro praticamente tutto e tutti ed alle molteplici rinunce a cui la nostro protagonista é obbligata. Non é una trama né facile né leggera, ma probabilmente la graphic novel la rende piú accessibile anche se la sua vicinanza con la realtá attuale la fa diventare spaventosa.

Unfortunately, I think this is one of those cases where “I'm not Japanese enough” (by the way, I'm not Japanese at all) to appreciate both the story and the kind of sense that should be implied, I think. These two characters around whom the whole plot revolves have always remained too distant from me to feel not say any kind of empathy, but just plain interest. It will be better next time, I hope. 

Purtroppo credo che questo sia uno di quei casi in cui "non sono abbastanza giapponese" (per altro non lo sono affatto) per apprezzare sia la storia che il tipo di comicitá che dovrebbe essere implicita, credo. Questi due personaggi attorno cui ruota tutta la trama sono rimasti sempre troppo lontani da me per provare non dico qualche tipo di empatia, ma proprio anche un semplice interesse. Andrà meglio la prossima volta, spero.

The Long Game by Elena Armas

 Même si j'apprécie les slow-burn romances, celle-ci était presque un supplice. Le premier baiser après les 3/4 du livre me semble vraiment excessif. Il y a tout de même des moments d'hilarité et deux personnages sympathiques bien que peut-être inutilement complexes à certains égards, mais l'histoire tient assez bien si ce n'est qu'elle devient presque frustrante au bout d'un moment.

Per quanto mi possano piacere i slow-burn romance, questo é stato quasi un'agonia. Il primo bacio dopo 3/4 del libro mi sembra veramente eccessivo. Comunque ci sono picchi di ilaritá e due bei personaggi anche se forse inutilmente complessi per certi versi, ma la storia regge abbastanza bene se non fosse che dopo un po' diventa quasi frustrante.

Everything is Tuberculosis by John Green

 John Greens Buch ist völlig anders als alle anderen, die er bisher geschrieben hat, und der Autor erklärt auch seine Gründe dafür. Die Entdeckung einer Krankheit, die er für ausgerottet hielt, seine Bekanntschaft mit Henry, seine eigene Krankengeschichte sind einige der Gründe, die den Autor dazu veranlassten, diesen Essay zu schreiben, in dem die Geschichte der Tuberkulose mit der ihrer berühmtesten Erkrankten und auch mit der von Henry gegenübergestellt wird. Ein schönes Buch, aber sicherlich nicht der übliche John Green.

Libro di John Green completamente diverso da tutti gli altri che ha scritto fino ad ora e l'autore spiega anche le sue ragioni. La scoperta di una malattia che credeva ormai debellata, la conoscenza con Henry, la sua stessa storia medica, sono alcune delle ragioni che hanno spinto l'autore a scrivere questo saggio, dove la storia della tubercolosi si affianca a quella dei suoi malati piú illustri e anche di henry. Un bel libro, ma certo non il solito John Green.

The Land of Frost by Whitney Welsh Gibbs

 As much as the plot twist is rather predictable, this first book definitely gets off to a good start, so much so that it kept me glued to its pages for two consecutive days. The characters are of some depth and, although certain shifts in sentiment are a bit odd even in hindsight, the story flows and is also compelling. Now I only hope that the next volume in the series won't make me wait too long, otherwise I'll forget everything that happened till now.

Per quanto il plot twist sia piuttosto prevedibile, questo primo libro parte decisamente bene, tanto da avermi tenuta incollata alle sue pagine per due giorni consecutivi. I personaggi sono di un certo spessore e, anche se certi cambi di sentimenti sono un po' strani anche con il senno di poi, la storia scorre ed é anche avvincente. Ora spero soltanto che il prossimo volume della serie non mi faccia aspettare troppo, altrimenti mi scordo tutto....

Three short stories, of which the first and longest (also the one I liked best) is the one that gives the collection its title. Again, the nationality of the author can be inferred fundamentally more from the unwritten things than from the words used in the stories. I don't know how to explain myself better, but this author also possesses that certain something that I have come to associate with Japanese literature. 

Tre racconti, di cui il primo e piú lungo (anche quello che piú mi é piaciuto) é quello che da il titolo alla raccolta. Anche in questo caso la nazionalitá dell'autore si puó dedurre fondamentalmente piú dalle cose non scritte che da quelle scritte nelle storie. Non saprei come spiegarmi meglio, ma anche questo autore possiede quel certo non so che, che sono ormai solita associare alla letteratura giapponese.

Die Magnolienkatzen by Noriko Morishita

 Ich bin zwar eine Hundeliebhaberin, aber die Geschichte von dieser Katzenmutter und ihren fünf kleinen Katzen, die eine ältere Mutter und ihre Tochter mittleren Alters „adoptieren“, hat mir sehr gut gefallen. Es ist sicherlich eine kleine Saga der guten Gefühle, aber ab und zu ist es auch gut, eine Geschichte zu lesen, die unkompliziert und süß zugleich ist. Außerdem hatte ich in meinem Leben schon viele Hunde und habe nur wenige so absolut geliebt, so dass ich Menschen verstehe, die ein Haustier haben.

Per quanto io sia cinofila, la storia di questa mamma gatta e dei suoi 5 gettini che "adottano" una madre anziana con la figlia di mezza etá, mi é piaciuta parecchio. Sicuramente é una piccola saga dei buoni sentimenti, ma ogni tanto ci sta anche bene di leggere una storia semplice e dolce allo stesso tempo. Inoltre ho avuto tanti cani in vita mia e ho amato poche volte in modo cosí assoluto, quindi io le capisco le persone che si mettono in casa un animale domestico.
