I really liked this one. It’s Saw mixed with Se7en, with a little tech thrown in.
I like the POV shifts and most of the characters. I wish there was more detail for some of them though.
Overall it was gory, fast paced, and had a satisfying ending.

Let me start by saying I have read every book in this series. I have liked some of them so much I teach them in class.
But this one is terrible.
Firstly, it is so poorly edited you have to decipher what is being said before you can enjoy the story.
Secondly, many of the stories lack the twists and excitement of the previous books.
Overall disappointing.

This is written by the same author as The Watchers so you kind of know what you are getting into.
Essentially, this weird rich dude sends scientists on a journey every couple of years to see if he is still cursed. Chloe and Ben are chosen. She’s tiny and bubbly but he’s a loser in every sense of the word. Like, I dislike him as much as Holden Caulfield (IYKYK).
So eventually those two end up cursed and they try to figure out how to get out of it. And that’s the story.
It reminds me of No Exit by Sartre with the main themes.

Loved this!
So many POV shifts and unreliable characters. You never know who to believe or what is actually happening.
It’s about murder and kidnapping and home renovation gone awry.
You hate all the characters then like them then hate them again.
The dog does NOT die.

Very creepy and weird. Much better than the movie.
Good themes for younger kids but also really spooky bits.
It’s about being brave even when you don’t feel like it.

Loved this. It’s weird and creepy in the best way.

This is a classic. A man turns into a bug.
The title tells about what happens to him but also his sister.
I also read some Reddit posts about how this can be an allegory for families caring for family members with disabilities and that gave much more depth to the story.
Excited to teach it next semester.

My Friend Dahmer by Derf Backderf

This was ok.
I liked the visuals. The paper in the actual book was really thick.
It’s a story about going to school with Dahmer. He’s a pretty gross person even before the murdery bits. Also, the teens are pretty gross too.
That being said this lacks depth of some other stories I have read and would like to have seen more. But I guess no one is gonna have those details because no one could get close to him.

I really liked this one! Think Oceans 13 mixed with Titanic.
The main characters were great, 4 girls with a plan to sneak onto the Titanic and steal something. But the antagonists left something to be desired. I think better could have been done with August. Diverse in socioeconomics, race, orientation, etc.
Overall the ending made me sad, but like, you obviously know how it ends.

Finished in just a couple hours.
Really liked this graphic representation of Ed Gein’s crimes and how Hitchcock’s Psycho relates to them.
The art is reminiscent of the time period and fits well with the text.
There’s some appendices with more detailed information as well.
Graphic for obvious reasons.
