Did not finish book. Stopped at 41%.
Not my thing. The historical aspects were interesting but I could not care less about the codex etc.

An interesting and clearly extensively researched read. My only issue with it was that at times it was confusingly written. Eg. "Bevan had an attachment to local-authority structures being clearly identified with communities that he thought best for involving local people."
I don't think I would have noticed necessarily if I wasn't taking notes on it, but because I was there were a good few  times where I had to either stop and search for information about something from other sources, or just make a best guess.

Quite an emotional read. I think this book started off strong during the tragedy but got less interesting as it showed how the world was reshaped.
I didn't think the articles were necessarily that well written or interesting. I also think Lisa's decision re the vaccine should have been interrogated more. There was talk about it making Canada the most powerful global player but we never see that. What were the consequences for countries who refused to or more importantly - couldn't afford the vaccine. I finished it a few days ago now and I can't remember if there were any carve outs for eg. countries like Malawi which would never be able to afford It.  If not. It would have been interesting to see a POV character from somewhere like that - the hope turned to despair as they realise the west has sorted itself out and they're left behind.
Why would one person making a vaccine - especially one so strictly licenced - mean the scientists in the UK stopped working on theirs entirely?

The ending was a bit of a surprise, but I think it works well. It took a minute to get used to the writing style, but once you get the hang of it the rhythm really flows.
