Anathema is my first book by Keri Lake and wow what a ride! It honestly was shocking, gruesome, dark, brutal, horrific, gross, descriptive, enthralling, intriguing, beautiful, compelling, romantic, and surprising.

⚠️Definitely check out your trigger warnings with this one ⚠️

I find myself torn about how to rate and even review the book, because the first half was slow moving, and while I was interested in the story, sometimes I had to make myself read it. I don’t think the booo had to be as long as it was. It’s was a heavy detailed and world-building/ information overload start, akin to pushing a rope up a hill at some points, even though I was super intrigued. But then, suddenly everything moved quickly and I devoured the second half of the book really fast and wish I could immediately dive into book 2 NOW. I’ll be reading the sequel ASAP once it releases later this month!

First half was probably a 3.5-4 stars, and second half was 5 stars so I’ll go with 4.25 stars 🖤

My first graphic novel by Molly! The illustrations were beautiful and the story was overall very sweet (if not a little odd haha). Fun buddy read for swifties Readathon. I’d definitely read more from the artist-author.

I love the Terror family so much and wish I could be part of it! Roman was the sweet caring dad we all knew he was and it was so sweet to see him fall in love!

I alternated between the audio and ebook and enjoyed both a lot. Appreciate that this series is dual narrators as it really brings each character alive.

For whatever reason I didn’t love If You Love Me quite as much as If You Need Me, because something about Dallas totally stole my heart haha. But as usual Helena is hitting it out of the park with these terror men 🥰🥰😍😍

Great conclusion to a great series!! The final instalment in this series was everything I needed it to be, and this and the second book in the series are my favourites. I’m going to miss Zarya, Rubin and Yas so much!

Honestly not sure what to say, it was well done and wrapped up all my questions. The magic system and lore was unique and I loved the Indian culture influenced.

5 stars for me and I continue to say/ think I will read everything Nisha writes 🥰💜.

Thanks so much NetGalley and second sky for the arc! All thoughts and opinions are mine.

What a beautiful story… gosh I just finished and feel overcome with emotions. I pretty much loved every part of the story and all the time periods and mystery and build up. It was romantic, heart-wrenching, mysterious, unique, confusing, and bitter-sweet.

Don’t even know what else to say except read it 🥰.

And I absolutely LOVED the repeating quote of: “I love you, and I have loved you, and I will love you.”

Also I only listened to a bit of the audio but really enjoyed that and thought the narrators voice matched the story really really well!!

Ahh I had a full beautiful review written and something happened to it! So this one is a bit less well put together

I loved the authors debut book, so when I was sent a widget for Never Planned on You I jumped on it and knew I’d enjoy! The writing was spot on and the plot was original feeling.

The only thing I’d advise people sensitivity / trigger wise is that there is some adjacent to cheating in the story. It didn’t entirely feel the same as cheating to me, but it was still some pretty big lying and made me feel sad, even though I enjoyed the story.

I had a rough time with the book for no reason of the authors, because the MMC is my ex-husband’s name, and I don’t have fond thoughts of him. So it was hard reading a romance book with his name. 🫤

Overall, it was a cute romance and I loved the unique trope twist. Thanks so much for the arc!

The book picks up a bit after the events of crimson moth, and while I first sounding myself wishing I’d re-read book one, the author did a nice job recapping the important bits and I soon caught on, and felt immediately invested.
It’s a fun, fast, dynamic book and I enjoyed the dual pov and all of the travel and exciting plot in the sequel. Some points I found myself feeling like the action was a little repetitive, but I felt like she wrapped the story up nicely overall and gave the characters and world the ending it deserved.
It was a really fun duology, and I’d definitely recommend it and probably do a re-read some day!
To anyone reading this review, I’d say if you enjoyed book 1, you’ll enjoy book 2 just as much!

Thanks so much NetGalley and Wednesdays book for the arc.
