4⭐️ What an incredibly special book ❤️ I really do think I’m a better person now for reading it. Good reminders to always lead with empathy and everything depends on how you frame it. It also was very painful and unbearably heartbreaking at times because of the explorations of deep trauma and I related to it a little too much or it highlighted things that I don’t have or haven’t found yet. Also some laugh out loud moments like the raccoons

4.25⭐️ this was a pleasant surprise for me! while I did have a few qualms (occasional cringy lusting and immaturity, some depth lacking in areas, etc.) overall, I truly enjoyed it and was glued to the pages to where I didn’t want to put it down! that hasn’t happened for me in quite a while, and it’s what I yearn for in books. The plot and pacing were very solid (compared to some of my recent reads that were just all over the place). While some things were typical of romantasies and may have been somewhat predictable, it didn’t feel copy and paste or just an amalgamation of different tropes. It was a true story. The continuously unfolding plot kept the momentum building throughout to where I was rarely bored or just waiting for what was next. This is my favorite version of a slow burn - the building tension and little sprinkles of reprieve throughout that leave you yelling “no wait MORE!” every time it is cut short and then finally getting that steamy pay off…there’s nothing better.
but my favorite thing about this book was hands down the relationships! and the different dynamics of them.
