The author depicts racism and uses racial slurs in a very intentional way to clearly communicate the reality the main characters face.

Overall, a jaunty read and good palate cleanser between heavier reads.
The first part of the edition I read had a few glaring typos. (Or, if not typos, very clunky writing.) But the story itself was entertaining, and the characters felt relatable.
The second part, which was structured as an email exchange between two main characters, was a bit on the nose for me re: current events. However, I can't hate too hard on any author making good faith efforts to respectfully incorproate complicated social and political events into their stories.
I probably enjoyed the third part the most. The characters became even more relatable and whole, and the way various relationships progressed felt more authentic than what you might see in other romantic comedies.
The epilogue gave the story a very tidy ending, but one that I think it earned!
