“A spark of rebellion is all it takes to defy the night.”

“Mind your mettle, Tessa.”

THIS BOOK HAD ME HOOKED FROM THE VERY BEGINNING

This was one of my most anticipated reads, and this book did not disappoint! From the very first page, I was interested in this book. I had so many theories throughout the book, and literally every time I thought I knew something, I was proved wrong within the next 50 pages. The plot is so easily and amazingly developed within the first 150 pgs, I swear you'll be hooked!!

The banter, the politics, the plot twists, the book is EVERYTHING!! The characters are all so interesting, and so is their development, especially Tessa's way of thinking regarding rebellion and politics. Like, I've never really been interested in the whole politics aspect of fantasy/dystopian books, but this book was just so...UGH IT WAS SO GOOD.

IF YOU EVER CLAIMED TO LOVE THE MISUNDERSTOOD VILLAIN TROPE, PICK UP THIS BOOK NOW!!

AND WITH THE WAY IT ENDED, WE BETTER GET A BOOK 2!

Ms Kemmerer, you better sleep with one eye open because I will be robbing you for the next book

"I’m not a praying man, Gabriella, but I prayed so fucking hard that this wasn’t some horrible joke, that you’d be happy when you realized it was me, that whatever cosmic force gave me the gift of stumbling into your life wasn’t cruel enough to keep me from always belonging to it.”

this book was short and sweet and funny and everything I wanted in a holiday rom com! It was so heartwarming to see the two main character begin to trust and love each other and still keep their banter and jokes

y'all know I love a good academic rivals to lovers and this book DELIVERED
It was so incredibly cute and wholesome and relatable! Like, it's actually crazy how much I relate to Stella, I'm convinced she's a long lost twin.

3.5⭐️
The writing could have been better, especially in the beginning. The 'I have feelings for you' part and the end of the story was kind of rushed, but I still enjoyed the story and laughed a little.

“I love you, Ella. I will love you for the rest of my life. My heart is yours. Please don't ever give it back to me.”

this book was okay. not necessarily bad, but definitely not a favorite either. I loved the moments between Kenji and Warner- they were my favorite. There were also lots of plot twists in this book so I'm excited to read the next one.

I love Nazeera, and i'm excited to see where the relationship goes between her and Kenji.

Overall, 3.5⭐️

my favorite quotes :

“And I pull her in. Press my forehead to hers. “Those who do not understand you,” I say softly, “will always doubt you.”
She leans back, just an inch. Looks up.
“And I,” I say, “I have never doubted you.”
“Never?”

“I love that the girl who blushes so easily in my arms is the same one who would kill a man for hurting me.”

The plot mostly consisted of internal problems in Warner and Juliette, and how it affected their relationship but was really interesting nonetheless.

I really liked that this book was dual pov because i found a lot of Juliette's pov (mostly towards the middle-end) boring and unnecessarily long so I mostly skimmed through her parts, but I really liked Warners pov because we learned more about him and watched him develop relationships with Adam, James, and my husband Kenji<3 and overall slowly change.

Also, the CLIFFHANGER?! HELLO?! MS MAFI, WHAT?!?!
Overall 4/5, picking up the next book ASAP
