This took me a while to finish because of school, but i liked this book a lot better than the first. Tella was a far more interesting character than her sister and the romance was better paced whereas Scarlett and Julian was kind of rushed. while this book was good, I don't find myself as interested in the mystery right now (not to say this book wasn't good bc I'd highly recommend it to mystery lovers), so it might be a while before i read the next book. overall 5/5 stars

fuck Adam. literally every time he talks about Juliette he talks about her like she's a child he needs to protect, like he doesn't think she's capable of handling herself. the only good thing about him at this point is that he loves his brother. this pov was boring, but ig that just sums up Adam, so

i'm not gonna lie, at times it felt like the author just threw words together and hoped they would make sense (they didn't), and the romance between Juliette and adam felt a little too rushed. but i'm still giving this book 4 starts because i enjoyed the plot and i'm excited to see what happens next. I also love Kenji<3

im at a loss for words, typing deleting and re-typing this to try to explain why this book was SO much better than the first, but my brain is fried so you're just gonna have to trust me when i say that this series is worth it once you get past the first book.

side note: Warner and Kenji<3333

"And I've fallen.
So hard.
I've hit the ground. Gone right through it. Never in my life have I felt this. Nothing like this. I've felt shame and cowardice, weakness and strength. I've known terror and indifference, self-hate and general disgust. I've seen things that cannot be unseen.

And yet I've known nothing like this terrible, horrible, paralyzing feeling. I feel crippled. Desperate and out of control. And it keeps getting worse. Every day I feel sick. Empty and somehow aching.

Love is a heartless bastard.”

“Enemies-to-lovers—it’s our trope, Buxbaum.”

⚠️SPOILERS?⚠️

i'm so confused- did she kill everyone or not? Is Lily, Alia, or anyone else dead? Where did Warner go? so many questions
