Just Kids by Patti Smith

I read this book because of the infamous Taylor Swift lyrics. I didn't knew a lot about Patti Smith when I started this book, so my expectations where not that high nor low.
However this book really captured me. The NYC art scene in the 60s and 70s is something that always peaks my intrest, this combined with the poetic and strong writing of Patti made this book a masterpiece!

This was a wonderful, deeply engaging, and emotional read. I recommend checking the trigger warnings. However, I can't give this book anything less than five stars. The story captivated me; I felt as if I were right there with them on the firing line, going over the top. It illustrates how war impacts people differently, showing its horrors while also including some light, fun moments—especially if you know some French (history.)
I can't recommend this book enough. It's powerful and beautiful, and to think this is only Alice Winn's debut novel! I've tried to keep this review short, but there are so many noteworthy elements in this book. If you've read it, please send me a message—I'm need to discuss it with someone.
