I wasn't sure how to feel about this one. It was quite boring up until the last quarter or so, which is where EVERYTHING happened. It was almost like the first part was all a long winded world building for an ending full of twists that can out of nowhere and had not much set up.

The first part was also very predictable. It's like the author only put effort into the story at the end. The fast pacing had me on the edge of my seat and the twists genuinely shocked me. If the whole book was like the last part it would probably be one of my favourites.

There were also A LOT of metaphors and innuendos that took me a few passes over to understand, which always pulled me out of the story. It was like the author had in-jokes with the characters that I wouldn't get so I should just move on. They were put in the strangest of places too, like when the main character is processing something traumatic. I understand that was her character, it just took a lot of getting used to. Some of them were funny when placed correctly though. I think it was just almost every thought Cara had included a made up metaphor.

Like I say, I enjoyed some bits but not all of it. But I could totally see this as a movie or series, without Cara's inner monologue.

A great ending to an amazing series!

I didn't enjoy it just as much as the other ones but it was still really good. I think it was because of the different format, but it made sense.

I really loved seeing the character development throughout the series and I liked where most of them ended.

And I will say that it was the most epic book in the series. Loved the twists too.

I'll definitely be seeking out more Percy Jackson media to consume.

I am demolishing these books.

I loved this one! It isn't my favourite so far (3 is), but it's still amazing.

I love what this adds to the ongoing story as well as the smaller plots within the books.

The character development and growth now that the kids are getting older is done really well too!

I can't wait to start the next one!

Well, that was an emotional rollercoaster!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. From the characters, new and returning, to the storyline and world building, it was all perfection.

This was the first book I had no clue on the plot and I'm so glad. I just couldn't put it down, the suspense throughout the whole book kept me wanting more and to find out what happens.

And my GODS, the Plot Twists!! My jaw was on the floor. Even if I had worked out the twists, the way the author reveals them is just as satisfying as you get to see the characters responses.

Onto the next one in the series now. I'm HOOKED!

Okay, so I devoured this book! I don't know if it's the fastest I've read a book before but if not it is VERY close.

I was so invested in the characters and the storyline. A perfect follow on from the first one. I knew most of the plot from the movie and I think it stayed pretty true to the book, more than the first one I think. I'll have to rewatch it though.

The author has such a way of making the characters feel like real people, even the monsters and immortal ones. I'm always eager to know what their next problem will be and to see how they'll react to it.

I'm still obsessed and far from bored with this series. Onto the next one!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I am straight onto the next one!

I definitely understand the hype with this series. I watched the movie when it came out ages ago, that was the Percy I grew up with. Seeing the differences in the plot and characters in the book was really cool. I kept thinking I knew what was going to happen then BAM not what I was expecting!

It's a really easy read and will get you sucked in. I know it's aimed at kids Percy's age, but as someone with dyslexia myself, it was really comforting to be able to read at the pace the book was meant to be read. And I love the way it was written as if Percy was telling me about his adventures with slight remarks and preteen humour splashed in.

I was fully immersed in the story and the world and the characters are so human, despite being half god haha.

I am fully going to watch the movie again and then the TV series after reading the book to spot the differences again.

Onto the next one!

- signed a dyslexic 21yo who would have obsessed over this as a 12yo and tbh is right now

This definitely exceeded my expectations. I have watched the movie a few times when I was younger but with memory like mine I had forgotten main plot points until a page or so before they were revealed. So reading this book was a really fun experience.
I loved seeing the characters develop throughout. I felt like I was on the journey with Kristen and Yvaine.
The way Neil Gaiman writes you can't help but care for his characters. His style of writing is so unique, I love it. It felt like he was talking straight to me.
I would definitely read this again and again. And now I want to watch the movie.

I really enjoyed this book.
I was nervous about it since it's a classic and I'm used to YA style of writing, but this was really easy to read.
It kept me intrigued throughout, I couldn't put it down. Very fast paced story, but you can keep up with it.
I'm happy that I didn't have to read this in school and over analyse it. I feel like it would have ruined it for me. I like the simplicity in the metaphor.
This is now up there with my favourites, and I will definitely read this again.
Simply, a good book.

I had a lot of fun with this book.
Arc of the Scythe is my favourite trilogy, so I loved being able to enjoy more stories from the world.
Each story drew you in. I found it so hard to put it down, with each story as good as the last.
This book is definitely in my top ten now.

I find it difficult to express how I feel about this book. It took me ages to read it as I got bored halfway through and didn't want to read for a while.

I loved the characters and their personal stories. It may help that I can relate to them with my own experiences, but I found them charming and would want to read the book again if only to read them again.

The actual plot and story, though, I wasn't really a fan. I couldn't tell you what happened in the book. I think it relied too heavily on the characters to carry it.
The twist confused me also.

I wasn't fond of the writing style. There were too many metaphors that I genuinely wasn't sure what was real. There were times that I got sucked out of a scene because the dialogue would be interrupted by metaphors and descriptors. That might just be the authors style, and it's not for me.

I think it would make a great movie. Solely because those parts wouldn't be there, and the characters would be the focus.
I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it.
