The title was misleading. I thought it was going to be a mystery story where the main character thinks someone is dead, who later turns out to be alive. But it was a drama instead of a mystery. Otherwise, it was well written and I liked it.

A Regency romance about people in their forties falling in love while fighting injustice. What a good change of pace from the light ones about people in their twenties!

I understand why people would either love this or hate it. It’s a story (or stories) within a story, and that wasn’t well explained. But I liked it and might read the second one.

It was slow-paced and repetitive in a way I didn’t like. A strange use of “parallel timelines” as the flashbacks were already described in the “twenty years later” chapters, so why have flashback chapters at all? They didn’t add new information to the story much.
