Chloe and Nicky are sisters who as adults, have become estranged. Their relationship is so strange; Chloe married Nicky's ex, Adam, and became a stepmother to Nicky's son, Ethan. Messy.

When Adam is found murdered, no one knows who could have done it or why. Ethan becomes the primary suspect, but could he have actually killed his father? Or did Adam get caught up in some shady business?

When the truth comes out about the past, Chloe and Nicky realize their versions of certain experiences were not accurate. Who was Adam, really?

If you appreciated Room, you will also appreciate this. It was creepy, sinister, uncomfortable, but hopeful. There was amazing character development & I was rooting so much for all of them. I feel like some things were over-explained, but that is not a dig at the writing style. The author set the scenes well and the descriptions helped create a movie in your mind as the story progressed.

I didn’t care for the ending, but up until that, I was so into it. I read this in one sitting!

WOW. They just don't write mysteries like this anymore. It was so simple, yet so intricate. So perfectly twisty and suspenseful and when I say the ending had my jaw on the floor...

A group of 10 was invited to a private island by a millionaire that no one knows. All 10 guests have dark secrets in their past, and it seems that this unknown host knew them all.

In each room in the mansion on the island, there is a rhyme framed. "Ten little boys went out to dine; One choked his little self and then there were nine. Nine little boys sat up very late; One overslept himself and then there were eight. Eight little boys traveling in Devon; One said he'd stay there then there were seven. Seven little boys chopping up sticks; One chopped himself in half and then there were six. Six little boys playing with a hive; A bumblebee stung one and then there were five. Five little boys going in for law; One got in Chancery and then there were four. Four little boys going out to sea; A red herring swallowed one and then there were three. Three little boys walking in the zoo; A big bear hugged one and then there were two. Two little boys sitting in the sun; One got frizzled up and then there was one. One little boy left all alone; He went out and hanged himself and then there were none."

When people start dying off and disappearing according to this rhyme, tensions rise and everyone is on edge. Who is orchestrating the deaths? Is there an 11th person on the island?

Kacy & Michael move to Texas after a scandal in NJ drive them out. Kacy knows she needs to make new friends in her neighborhood, & is pleasantly surprised when she does. Her new best friend, Lena, happens to be their neighbor. The husbands get along, they spend a lot of time together, everything is perfect.

Wrong. When Michael is at the neighbor’s house, he watches the husband commit a crime, everything changes.

We as the reader know exactly who the “bad guys” are & everything that happened, but Kacy & Michael do not. Between chapters, there are transcripts of a crime podcast covering the case, and I felt that was a great addition to help move the story along.

Quick little thriller that I enjoyed. Not as shocking or surprising as I’d have liked, but I still liked it & I’m thankful to NetGalley for the eArc!

I think I'm starting to love historical fiction, which is something I never thought I would say!

I did not know that Belle de Costa Greene was a real woman in history, and that made this all the more fascinating. I was captivated by her character in The Personal Librarian, and have started to do some outside research on her as well. This was a wonderful fictionalized biography.
