The Midnight Library by Matt Haig

Trigger warning: suicide/depression. This book challenged me and made me change my entire view on my life/who I am as a person. As someone who struggles with depression and as someone who has attempted to take themselves out; this book made me realize it doesn’t matter what road I’ve taken, what opportunities I have passed up, what passions or hobbies I’ve lost interest in, etc - I have to keep going. I have to keep “writing my book” One choice is not better or lesser than the other. It simply just is - a choice and an opportunity to learn from a mistake, to see things from a different perspective, that despite those feelings of feeling left out or not good enough - you are. Nothing is perfect - taking that job or whatever isn’t going to make your life perfect. Nothings perfect. You have to love yourself and where you are and just take it day by day. Practice gratitude, appreciate the quiet, take it slowly. This book made me live for myself after reading it. I started to read more, talk to more people, open up from my shell and I am so grateful. I began setting harder boundaries in my life. This book is written so wonderfully I could not recommend it enough. It was the wake up call I needed.
