Court of the Vampire Queen by Katee Robert
3.0
As someone who’s interested in polyamory I absolutely love how this shows Mina navigating the newness of a polyam relationship. The spice was 12/10 the only reason why I gave this three stars was because the death scene where she takes on her father I feel could’ve been more dramatic - we had the plot revolve around the smut which is totally fine but her taking over her fathers estate is a HUGE deal. We also don’t know much about her seraphim powers which was a let down for me. I really wanted to know more about her powers and the death blow could’ve been more climatic than what it was
The Familiar by Leigh Bardugo

I wanted to love this book. I stayed for the ending hoping that it would pick up and was just disappointed. The world building is rich, the characters lack depth - overall the story goes on at a snails pace.
Funny Story by Emily Henry

This was the cutest love story I have read in a while. But also a lovely “late coming of age oh shit starting over” story for any independent woman who has had to start over, fell out of believing in love, thought they were a cynic, struggles with a parental figure and discovers their independence through the tower moment. (Also if you have a dry sense of humor - read this!!)
Horror Movie by Paul Tremblay

It’s like take out you can’t stop eating hoping it gets better. Once you’re finished, like bad takeout, you’re left unsatisfied, annoyed and irritated. The ending was anticlimactic which the narrator even states. Which is even more infuriating.
My Best Friend's Exorcism by Grady Hendrix
5.0
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Grady Hendrix never disappoints. This was the perfect summer spooky read filled with hilarious vintage ads, bible thumping body builders, close knit friendships that make you feel like you’re part of the gang and most importantly - horrifying possession where love does truly triumph; pick this up. There are points where you’re crying alongside Abby, horrified for her, horrified for her parents, her friends parents and parts where you find yourself admiring her bravery, her empathy and cheering her on while feeling your heart race fearing the worst. I loved this book so incredibly much and wish I could read it again for the first time.
