There's nothing spectacular about this memoir. It is meandering in a disorganized way and lacks cohesion. Considering the nature of this writing, Lena is quite distanced from her own story, and the writing lacks introspection.

This novel appears to be a relaxing J-novel exploring a slice of life story with a writing style akin to Mieko Kawakami. I was surprised to find that the story delves into Japanese sexism, particularly in the workplace. The story is thought provoking and invites the reader to consider whether the protagonist's reality is actually real. I was surprised by the ending.

An interesting insight into one person's experience of OCD.

3.5 stars
This book has a Maruki Hurakami feel in its otherworldly plot. I am surprised with how moved I felt by the ending. But, I feel as if the author was trying to tell me more than I gleaned.

DID NOT FINISH

Quite dry and boring

I felt incredibly frustrated and enraged by the difficulties and judgments that Stephanie faced throughout her book. Her story encourages the reader to confront the prejudices they have about poverty and those trapped within it, and to view poverty with an empathetic lens.

I could not put this book down. Ruth's story is gripping and heartbreaking.

An immersive read which delves into love, trauma, grief, and sorrow. This book surprised me in its twists and turns.

Really, I'd like to give this book 4.5 stars, because it was very good but slow to start.

I bought this book from a discount store to entertain myself on a family vacation, so I didn't have high hopes for it. But, I was pleasantly surprised! This was a casual, suspenseful read, and unlike many suspense novels, the ending was illustrated rather than stated.
