Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card

It's been a decade and a half since I read Enders Game for the first time and to this day it has impacted my way of thinking. The tragic assumptions we make that are a part of us as children and adults are both explored here. As a child I remember the mind bending concepts that Card laid out made it so compelling. Card has an uncanny way of getting into the minds of thoughtful children who face adversity. Perhaps more than anything, though, Game is a gateway drug to the Shadow series with Bean, perhaps where the best storytelling is yet to come.
The Art of Eating In: How I Learned to Stop Spending and Love the Stove by Cathy Erway

A blog to book conversion that hits the spot in terms of capturing Erway's novel approach to food life change. I loved the pieces about food competitions and supper clubs and the wending and winding path of her personal life developments as she made the shift to eating in.

The Snowball: Warren Buffett and the Business of Life by Alice Schroeder

The book delves into the lifelong story of Buffets life and details many of his crises and key business entanglements of his life. More than anything it provides a deep look into what his defining characteristics are and how he came to have the beliefs that guides his career and life. The deep analyses of his business dealings may deter some from getting through it but those are probably the best parts to learn from. His family and his closest relationships are spelled out here more than I expected. Overall a worthwhile read.
