3.5 stars.

“I’m manifesting jolly with my gayest apparel, and nobody can stop me.”

“Cross-referenced the budget sheet? I love it when you talk responsible event-planning to me.”

This was really cute and had fabulous Schitts Creek vibes but it wasn’t totally for me. I don’t love the Hallmark movie formula which this book followed so that could be why.

Also, if I read “dude” one more time I was gonna scream.

“I stare down at the napkin, at the brutal evidence that my fingers know what the rest of me refuses to admit. That I’m stuck on a memory, on a moment, on a person.”

“You can’t marry him. I-I don’t know what I’ll do if you marry him.”

“Some of us have to fight to let ourselves be vulnerable enough to fall in love. Some of us have to fight to let other people love us.”

The acknowledgments made me weep. This whole book made me cry.

The Taylor Swift references were amazing and the setting yourself up for failure theme was too real.

DNF at 50%-ish

I knew about 8 pages in this wasn’t for me.

The world-building was both not existent and dumped too much info at the same time. The “enemies to lovers” trope was not utilized, the reader never finds out why they are enemies?

Both the main characters were rather dull and Tilda drove me a bit crazy. I didn’t feel the romance in the slightest but the steamy scenes were actually the better written parts of the book.

The prose left so much to be desired.

The pretty cover fooled me on this one.
