I mean I finished it. Did it feel repetitive and annoying: yes. Were there some funny bits of dialogue: yes.

It was honestly confusing, I feel like I kind of got it but like some of it went over my head. But it was for sure interesting. Some quotes I like: “our awareness of the performance is what allows us to enjoy the emotion” and “what was a family but if not a shared delusion, a mutual construction” and “he was transformed by the breadth of his emotion, stepping outside himself and extending the boundaries of his being, and I knew that this was one definition of love”

A major slayyyyyyy first book was good this one was sooooo good. Lots of reveals and plotting and pining ugh.

Bruh I can’t not read this series now I am on the third sooo what can you do. There not great but they make me happy.

Really loved it. Loved how it focused so much on political scheming and religion. It like a different type of focus from his other books that deal with whole worlds. I liked this quote that was in the afterword “characters and emotion are the true magic. The whisper from elantris is a warning to me never to forget that.”

I liked the concept I feel like it was at times hard to wrap my head around but still good. A quote I liked “what is magic but a change in the world?” And “and their joy runs together like rivers, like voices like family”

It was a fun way to view characters and set up a book. I loved the descriptions of the boxing and the different ways the girls moved their bodies. It was just an enjoyable read. A quote I like: men are like dead ends, but girls are infinite backwards and forwards.

It was good like so hard to read sometimes but like in a good way. The ending wasn’t what I was expecting but I liked the message. The idea that freedom is complicated and isolating yourself isn’t the answer.

I liked the way Penelope narrated. It was an interesting perspective.

First fantasy in a while that got me amped up. I liked the tropes and the good vibes. It was a good balance of plot and romance. Main character is a political menace which I love. Also the reveal at the end got me. Excited for second book!
