Joyland by Stephen King

My first King novel will forever be a classic to me. I read this to-and-from a summer session class I took in college on the bus, which added a lot to the atmosphere of the book for me. Although it isn't the best King novel I read storywise, it is still pretty great to me. I plan on reading again in the future.
'Salem's Lot by Stephen King

Great book by Stephen King. It was pretty slow within the first 100-50 pages but the suspense builds intensely (think Dracula style). Loved the ending too. Can't wait to read more of King's bibliography.
The Shining by Stephen King

The Shining wasn't necessarily bad, it's just that I expected it to be equal or superior to the Kubrick adaptation. I, however, was disappointed as I prefer the film to the novel. Since I've seen the film so many times, it was impossible to envision the characters as anything other than the actors from the movie. Plus I regrettably preferred Kubrick's story to King's. Still a good book, but not King's best (in my opinion).
Pet Sematary by Stephen King

I'm not completely sure if King fans will show up outside my house with pitchforks, but I didn't really love this book. I didn't find it scary at all, and I consistently heard from myriad reviewers that this was by far his scariest novel. I personally found Cujo to be scarier than this. I also hated how King relegated the (potentially) scariest section of the story to the last 40 pages of an almost 500 page novel.
However, I really enjoyed the description of the family and of Jud and his wife. I thought Gage (post-truck) and Ellie were really sweet. Also, this may have been a similar case to The Shining where I previously saw the movie and I ended up far preferring the movie adaptation.

"Come on, big guy. Let's go for a ride. Let's cruise."
Wow... I know most people laugh when they first hear the premise of Christine. I mean, c'mon, a killer car? But, I swear, I was truly uncomfortable during certain scenes. In particular, the scene with Moochie and then the fiery scene with Buddy. Now I need to watch the film adaptation!

Firestarter by Stephen King

I really liked the journey Firestarter lead me through. I must say, the incident at Manders farm and then at the Shop headquarters at the end of utterly badass, although eerily reminiscent of the rampage of Carrietta White. Lastly, I was spoiled of the death of Andy but I was still kind of shocked when it happened. Now, onto Roadwork!
The Dead Zone by Stephen King

I really liked it! I had gotten about halfway through last year, but had family visiting so I sat it down but forgot to pick it back up. I started over again and finished it this time, I enjoyed it a lot and didn’t expect it to end that way. Although it was good, I don’t remember anything spectacular so I knocked a star off.
