The Maleficent Seven by Cameron Johnston
3.25
I'm ending on a 3.25 (rounded down to 3 stars on GoodReads)
I really liked the book as far as vibes and enjoyability while reading, but the plot was lacking (we didn't really get alot of world building or descriptions of the characters) and the ending was lacking in the fact it was very open ended.
This was basically if an action movie was made into a book, it's fun but didn't offer too much as far as depth.
I will say that this was very easy to read and I will probably read more by the author as nice palette cleanser reads and because I had a good time while going through this journey.

3.75
So I will say this is a solid 3.75 read (rounded up to 4 on Goodreads).
I will say that the story is very fantasy based, it was so cool to see the nods towards other tales. I will say that the twists and turns were enough to follow along and wasn't complicated like other fantasy books can be.
I did feel like the ending was rushed a bit and also I REFUSE to accept the Pegasus as a love interest aspect; It didn't quite feel right to me.

4.5
This is a magically written tale seeped in gothic imagery and mystery that was such an enjoyable read.
I will start off by saying that I don't read a lot of Gothic literature, but this just felt right to me. There were indeed some off-putting moments but it added to the theme of the book and furthered the "spooky and unsettling" vibes of the tale.
My only gripes with the book is that the characters fell in love so quickly (after only 4 months) and near the end there was constant push away come back together chapters of the main couple which were driving me bonkers a tad.
This is a 4.5 star read (rounding down to 4 stars on GoodReads) because of these minor annoyances but ultimately this was such an enjoyable read and I will be recommending it.

This hooked me...it was fun though I do not enjoy the cliff hanger ending. It's giving SAO vibes and I am LIVING 👏🏼 FOR 👏🏼 IT 👏🏼
Can't wait to continue the series!!

This was a very strong and well written book about the possible life of a woman in China in the 15th century. I will say that for me personally I did feel like the book was a little slow to get into itself and there were lots of very sexist opinions on all fronts that made it frustrating to read (not just about women but also about men).
I do commend the author for doing extensive research and provide a well thought out plot with multiple issues to overcome.
In the end I'm giving this book a solid 4 stars

3.25
I'm ending on a 3.25 read (rounding down to 3 stars on GoodReads). It's fun, it's trashy, it's Stephanie Myer for adults.
I say trashy in a way of being like.... easy to read and fun to consume. Like junk food!: It's not healthy for you, and isn't going to give you much substance...but it has it's place in your diet if you have a craving for something cheap and readily available where you don't have to think about cooking.

Ok, just be warned that this book ends on a cliffhanger so because of that I automatically can not rate it higher.
By the end I'm still left with so many questions and almost equally lost as when I started this journey.
It really truly picks up around the middle, the first part of the book is all setup and world building.
It's not a bad world building but it's VERY detailed.
In the end it's a 3.75 star read (rounded up to 4 stars on GoodReads because the ending was so slammed packed full of things) and I will be continuing the series.

I'm giving this a 3.75 rating (rounded down to 3 stars on GoodReads since it wasn't good enough to me personally for a 4 star rating)
It had a good premise and the book layout was very interesting and it brought a new style which I liked, but I felt like there were alot of disjointed things and too many plot points. Also, some of the moments that focused on Kady I found myself bored because I just couldn't connect with her.

75% of this book could be summarized strictly by saying: "horny and alone woman who should not be the standard for a Turing test."
I will say that this book had potential, and maybe I would have enjoyed it a bit more reading it instead of listening (the audio acting was...not the best) so I will end this with a 1.5 stars but it didn't offer much -- rounding down to 1 star for Goodreads

Omg this was utterly perfect. It's warm and cozy and just has the best fantasy love story that I've ever heard.
It's different than the movie, but it's so good and both forms still give a great story.
I would totally reread this as a comfort read. The notes the author has woven through this tale about mind set and courage and trying to be better are wonderful.
I literally can not find fault with this book, and the ending was just so amazing.
