I really love this. Love in Pieces is an emotional and heavy story that follows Abby, who is struggling to get out of an abusive relationship. Abby meets Dallas, a fellow student at her university who helps her get out of her awful situation. Along the way, Abby and Dallas form an emotional bond that evolves into something more.
The characters are real and raw. Abby has been broken down by her ex-boyfriend, but we see her personality shine through as she heals from her past. Dallas is such a caring partner towards Abby, but more importantly, he is a loving friend, and kind stranger. Dallas chooses to step in when others choose to look the other way. He goes above and beyond to comfort her and care for her. He is truly a selfless person, and I fell in love with him! Dallas is everything Abby deserves in a man after dealing with Sam.
The pacing and length of Love in Pieces feels perfect. The story was long enough to show character growth and the relationship development between Abby and Dallas feels natural. I like the author's decision to make this story into a duet. Watching Abby grow throughout book one is inspiring, and it feels both exciting and comforting to know that Abby's healing will continue in the next book. It feels like Love in Pieces ends at a perfect turning point to leave me wanting more. Thankfully I finished Love in Pieces just in time for my arc of Love, Rewritten so I can jump in right away!
I'm so grateful that I had the opportunity to read an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review! Thank you so much, Jess!
