a really entertaining read. i can't say it's the height of literature, but it is not bad either. a happy middle. some of the themes explored in the book (agency and autonomy, discovering intimacy) really resonated with me. and i love a good banter, so i enjoyed the leads' dynamic. i must say ms. Armentrout is a lot more skilled at writing the romance & intimacy bit, and a bit heavy-handed with the fantasy worldbuilding part. at least that is true for this book, i'll see what the others bring to the table

brilliantly written, though at certain times i was a bit lost in the weaving non-chronological timeline within the chapters. the character dynamic is intriguing from the get-go and i was racing through this book to learn more about the pair. this scratched the very particular reading itch i had.

this book just feels like it is expressly written for the booktok audience, which means it doesn't take itself overly seriously. it's not a bad book, and i've mostly enjoyed reading it, but that's the extent of my emotions about it.

too much happening in too short a time. a bit too silly to take seriously, but not badly written

This is my second read of this book, and I've already loved it the first time, but I think it deserves that promotion to 5 stars.

The dynamic between Yasmina and Jafar, their push and pull, is exquisite. The first time I read this book, I learnt how much I enjoy stories with consensual non-consent. It's done brilliantly here. The author's annotations in this edition also add a new layer of enjoyment of this book.

Super short, but a very fun read. Ramanu has been my favourite since I met them in book 1 of Deal with a Demon. I loved getting to read their story

the premise of this book is extremely intriguing! the author has a good grasp on the writing craft, and as a result, the book is solid. i must admit i found the male characters a bit aggravating (aziel most of all) but it didn't detract from my enjoyment of the book too much. i found some of the plot devices a bit cheap, but hey, the constraints of the genre are what they are. i mostly enjoyed reading this.
