Found the story a bit strange to follow and paced really weird, and I felt like all of the action happened within a small section, but the whole book is also really important to the overall story. Renn still does it like absolutely no one else though

Crying because Wolf has cubs, that’s all I have to say right now

Absolutely foul starting that book the way she did but she’s redeemed for the ending, would argue this is one of the best books in the series

A very short (emphasis on the very) story, but gets the job done I guess. Feels like it lacks some basis in reality and it would be nicer with a bit more backstory

Slightly better than the first one, I understand the premise of each sense being a short novelette but honestly I think I’d prefer it more if it was one novel and had more of a story

I feel like this one was different in that Renn was more the main character than Torak. It’s nice that the series was revisited and a few more books written but it just doesn’t hit the same as the earlier ones, it feels a little disconnected. At least Wolf had more cubs tho

This started off as simple book and I wasn’t really sure where it was going. Henrietta is very evidently written to be on the autistic spectrum, and it’s done very well. I find her quite uptight and odd but as her unconventional friendship with Annie develops, she loosens up a bit and it’s lovely to see her growth.

I kind of anticipated the fact that Kath didn’t actually drown that day 50 years ago, but I was shocked by the fact that first of all, it was Henrietta’s little brother who died back when she was 9 and secondly, Terry (just everything about him and what he did, what a foul man).

Reading how Terry had ruined both Annie and Kath’s lives was heartbreaking, knowing they could have been reunited if it wasn’t for him, but I like the fact it does feel so real and that a lot of people’s lives unfortunately unfold that way: short and difficult. I feel like I learnt some life lessons reading this.

It was also lovely to see a friendship develop between Henrietta and Cerys, and I feel like this job was the best thing that ever happened to Henrietta (and Dave the dog). But I can’t believe it was mentioned that she was going to write a letter to Esther but we never know the outcome of this, but I would have loved to have to known if they reconnected or not.

Turns out I’m not a fan of the single mum trope because I found this cringey at times and I didn’t massively enjoy the story. I found the characters shallow and I really didn’t like how the conflict near the end was handled, it felt rushed and unrealistic. I didn’t even find myself smiling at the HEA, kind of a disappointing read

I really liked that this one was a bit different to the rest in that it’s a natural disaster that threatens the forest rather than a mage or a demon (although one is involved). It was refreshing and added another dimension to this world!

Probably more 3.5 stars as I didn’t really enjoy the story of this one very much, I didn’t think it was as exciting as the others and just fell a bit flat, which is a shame as it’s the last one in the series. I didn’t really like the fact that Fin-Kedinn was killed but I kind of saw it coming, and the ending was nice and finished the whole series off nicely!
