I got through this alright.
Alina. Alina. Alina. Why do you lack character?
The Darkling. Everyone's favourite villain after reading this series. Can't blame them. He was cute in the later chapters. Then he came out to be the villain in Alina's eyes.
Honestly, don't see the wrong in his intentions though. He just wants peace between the regions (?) and wants to rule as kings that ruled and still rule are weak AF.
Mal. I dislike the name and his typical BFF-I-Love-But-Never-Noticed-Me-Until-I-Disappeared role.
I'll bravely set on book 2 and hopefully it gets better. I just want to finish this series and head on to SoC. I don't want to abandon either as I already have the series.

It was good. I was just not into it.
Had it not been for Nikolai, I would have abandoned this series on the 2nd chapter. The writing was not for me. I read it easily just uninterested.
Mal is annoying. Alina is beginning to annoy me as well. Only Nikolai truly mattered here.
