With school, I can barely focus on reading a YA fantasy right now. So I am reading tons of romance novels. The past books I've found have been a let-down so far.

I saw this on my recommended section on Amazon and decided to buy it as the premise sounded really promising and it's about unrequited love. Heartaches? Heck yeah.

I really liked the beginning of the story. However, as I am getting into it, I noticed a pattern. The author got a little too poetic with describing emotions and metaphors. It got so much that I started reading it word per word and highlighting the most ridiculous I've read so far.

Here's some:

The bike vibrates beneath me, sending my synapses into a tailspin.

The continuous lust pumping into me is testing all sorts of limits limitations. I'm already toeing the line, desperation clawing at me for release. My control is a rapidly fraying thread. The girl behind me holds a scissor./

I AM LOST

And there's more!

His mouth locks over mine, tongues gliding together in a mutual of forever.

This line had me realize a couple of stuff. The book was not what I was wanting in terms of stories of unrequited story. This was barely one. After denying her before she left, he gave in right when he came back.

I appreciate the author's poetic metaphors but overdone.

There wasn't any drama between them or just any juice to the story. After playing the game of finding the most ridiculous line in the book, I gave up. As it turned out, the book became more ridiculously flat as it went on.

There was so much more to Grady yet it was not properly discovered. We get to see his internal conflict when it comes to his mom but Sutton appears and he is saved. I really wish there was more push and pull between them. Their story could have ended in Chapter 10 and that is till page 93 out of 328.

Buddy just woke up suddenly wanting her without his internal battles stopping him. I wanted to like it. But my heart was not given a chance to hurt, hope, and flutter.

Gail Haris' writing was convincing and surely gave this book a feel for reality.

Rachel Abernathy was suffering the loss of her best friend that she was happy to graduate high school a year early. Moving on to uni, she keeps bumping into the her unrequited love interest, Trent, which is her BFF's brother.

They've been having a thing going on but she decides she won't give him the time of the day anymore. But her decision changed, sorta, when she found out she's pregnant.

The whole book is an emotional mess from Rachel's POV as a pregnant teenager in her first year at uni. She was so indecisive and very inconsistent at some points that she got annoying.

Bexley, the friend she made at her class, told her everything I would have told Rachel for being immature and how she handled things. I adore Bex!

I liked the book overall, I just wished she said more about Denise. It ended in a weird way for me. Still a 4/5 rating.

Here I am again with a terrible find. But it's okay. I got it from Prime reading.

•2nd month of reading romance and not fantasy.•

I finished this book to find out who actually did it. I liked their connection however it felt flat. All their interactions almost had nothing happen.

I'm not sure if this can be classified as a bully romance as he barely hurt her by "bullying" her. It was more the fact that he tried to ignore her.

It felt flat but real at the same time. I can easily connect with characters, but didn't with this book. Idk why. It was meh.

Also, this cover. Like, why?!

This had a better battle scene than the last book.

Fantastic read.

It's like a subtle sunlight that burns through the skin. I am in love. ❤

Arin and Kestrel might just be my favourite characters as of today.

Kestrel, such a smart personality.

I loved how the romance just blurred in the background but still hung heavily.

She did it all for love. My heart hurts. I need book 3.

The writing is so beautiful. I got so lost I almost forgot I don't live in that world.

I can't wait for everyone to read this masterpiece.

I have been forever in love with Greek mythology and this book set in modern times is even better.

Lore is that MC you just need right now. She is strong, straight-headed, and very smart.

I can't wait to get my HC of this book when realesed. ❤
