I liked this better than One Of Us Is Next. This was more thrilling and I liked the characters better.

Ellery was the absolute portrayal of someone I wanted to be, just trying to solve a mystery and put all my Forensic Files knowledge to work.

She ended not having the same person as did I. I had waayy different theory.

I just love McManus' way of creating twists in her stories. The last line, definitely, sent chills to my spine.

I wish that would have been resolved.

I can't wait to read her next novel soon.

I'm not gonna lie-my expectations weren't that high when I got this book.

I'm a changed person. I love Kortney Keisel's style of writing. It's not complicated, it's not an info dump, and it's hard not to fall in love with it.

In this book, we get to see a future dystopian go backwards. Some explosion happened and if the Pangaea broke apart-this explosion just left a whole nation and wiped out the rest of the continents. Leaving the north and south America to be divided in 7 kingdoms ruled by 7 different kings that can rule for 30 years. What's unique is, there's democracy. You can vote the next king.

It's not hard on the dystopian world but you get enough hints to know about the world. I liked the essentials idea. A council among the 7 kingdoms would meet -"yearly", I assume- and vote for the item to be made as essential.

It would be nice to know more of the world as it's really interesting.

The characters are ones I adore. I love Trev and Renna and how beautifully they're written. I cried closer to end because of the list . It's probably one of the best chapters I'll ever read in my lifetime.

Thank you for the opportunity to discover such beautiful book.

This book and author deserves more recognition. ❤

People raved about this book and I found the graphic version. This is more like a self-help book.

DNF @1.50 stars

I could not finish it. I bought the Kindle version as it was on sale but I couldn't finish it. She had way too much of internal dialog.

Savored is the name of the bakery but her it didn't have a whole lot of involvement. She was described as someone that could be as amazing as her aunt when it comes to her baking skills. Nope.

She has a weird chemistry with Cooper, too. Confronted him right away after he organized an event to raise funds for her aunt after he found out her aunt has cancer. So much for the town loving the aunt and the aunt being involved in most of the town's people. Like, not one of them knew?! In her mind, she needed to know if he's still the bully she knew or he's changed for the better. Or if he was doing it for her? What?

Not for me, sorry.

I don't know why I'm still going on with this series.

It started out okay then it went to shit.

Vinderpick to Vanderpick. What?

I loved Mallory and her attitude in this book however, she gave in to Saint's dick a little too easy.

This book ended on a cliffhanger that of course, I have to dive in the second one.

First read:
"Love isn't always pretty, Tate.

Sometimes you spend all your time
hoping it'll eventually be
something different.
Something better.

Then,
before you know it,
you're back to square one,
and you lost your heart
somewhere
along
the
way."

My heart has been hurting since the beginning of this book until the second to last chapter. It is such a satisfying story that I'd go read it again and have my heart break and hurt for a million times.

Tate is never the character you would hate because of some moody, bratty, typical main MC. She'll be the character you'll love and share the heartbreak with.

Miles . . . his past is a hard one and is very understandable. Even through his "rules", you can already tell how he was slowly breaking for her. Unto a new shell, broken as it is, it would be for his present and future and not for his past.

I love that this book never went around the courting for a long time and just focused on both the main MC's emotional issues. I hate when a book is half a heartbreak and half the courting. I know they'd end up together just make my heart hurting more and just have the last chapter of them finally reconciling or whatever.

Okay.

I brought out my keyboard for this review.

I really like Mallory and Saint on the first book and that one ended on a cliffhanger so I continued on the series. The second was just so bad because nothing happened except a little danger that wasn't totally resolved.

We get to the last book where I assumed all hell will break lose and we get to see Mallory and Saint figure shit around their fucked up parents. But we don't. Instead, we get to see Mallory think about Saint. Forgetting Saint after their last fuck. And the cycle continues on.

I was so into the twist of the real mother showing up, Saint's dad trying to get rid of Mallory, the hot Ghost, and how Mallory will deal with all the stupid shit surrounding her.

I. am. 99.9 percent. fucking. disappointed.

This book contained so much cursing that it will take me a full week to simmer down. In summary, most my questions were answered but not in a satisfying way. This book was more focused on Mallory and Saint finally figuring out how they really feel. Ending is a big disappoinment.

What happened with their money? Saint's dad's company? And Nora? For someone so vengeful to just stop? And what were they doing now? What will they do? Just overall disappointed.

One positive is that at least I liked Mallory and Saint. The back-and-forth was just emotionally exhausting and this book needed more sustenance. Ugh.

3.5

Ahhhhh. I need the second book!

I need to reread when the 2nd book comes out or wait till the series is completed. I read too quickly that I cannot discern the differences being discussed in the JLA group I'm in.

There was so much info dump in the beginning that I forgot about it halfway. Poppy is an annoying character. She is, supposedly, reserved and sheltered but maaannnn, moments with Casteel/Hawke didn't seem like it.

I'm disappointed by how Poppy just let Casteel have sex with her even after knowing the reason he got close, even after she stabbed him then tried to run away. Then they had sex right when he caught her. Just why?! Good imagery, though. JLA is great at that.

Our main MC is too weak for this dude's penis and sex appeal, apparently. Also, I still want to know more why the duke canes her. I want to know the system of an Ascended. She mentioned the duke and dutchess being an Ascended yet how were they given the position as Harry and Meagan? Why was Poppy given to them to take care of instead of staying with the queen since she's the queen's favourite or something.

I feel like if she stayed with the queen, she could have met Casteel's brother and it would have been better if she got kidnapped there instead then try to trade her with Casteel's brother. I fee like she'll ease more into the Ascended being evil if they started out as great enemies first and all that. I don't know!
