This is an amazing book and I don't know why it took me forever to finish.
I read it word per word. I was engulfed in it. I don't want to leave this world.
Kell, my darling Kell. Some reviews have said he's a bore and that he'd be better if he had a bit of grayness in his character. I loved all of him. His soft, kind and everything.

This book made me look deep into myself and ask questions. It was so beautiful. It helped me realize and understand things I thought I had a clear picture of.

I disliked the first book yet I continued on. I wanted to see how she would go from Warner to Adam since she's soooo in love with the latter. Juliette kept denying her attraction to Warner but her conflicting metaphors say otherwise.
The second book was all made to sound like it will all be about finally figuring out her abilities - honing it and mastering it. Instead, we get to see more internal battles, whining, love story, some more whining and finally a bit of action where she broke the ground and that's it.
Let's not forget the forget the metaphors. Here's the first one I foundridiculous too poetic for my liking.
** His breath is hot and his breathimg shallow and the heat from his body is melting my blood only to splash it across my cheeks.
Another complex way of saying you're embarassed. Ok.
Kenji is probably the only character with character. He finally put Juliette's feet on the ground.
All you do is sit around and think abour feelings. You've got problems. Boo-freaking-hoo.
Exactly! Kenji nailed it with the rest of his speech. Juliette has been nothing but annoying in the beginning just moping. I'm so glad Kenji finally got enough of her actions.
I was about to dnf till I got to this point. Usually in YA books, this is when our MC sort her shit out. But of course, she only got hers halfway.
** My head is full of missing buttons and shards of glasses and broken pencil tips.
We still have the metaphors but they're not as much as the last book. But they're still sound somewhat ridiculous that I found myself skimming through most of the paragraph. They kept describing one thing over and over again just a more ridiculous description on every paragraph.
Warner's abilities are finally revealed and of course, they convieniently complement each other'spowers abilities. Cause he's her endgame. Bye Adam!
I didn't really see her improve much? She trained for like what? - a week? She just went on and on about Adam, Castle, how she feels, Warner. Ugh. It's still not a great book for me. I came this far. I'm finishing it.
My fists are full of unlucky pennies and my heart is a jukebox demanding a few nickels and my head is flipping quarters heads or tails heads or tails heads or tails heads or tails.

I can't believe no one is talking more about this book! It's amazing. I haven't had a lot of great reads to start my year off and I'm glad I read this.
It has a lot action and not one dull moment, surprisingly. It's fast-paced and it just makes you keep reading. The world-building is phenomenal, Ithicana is the next Night court and Eranahl is to Velaris.
There was almost a very close similarity between the two settings. One appearing as cruel as Maridrina made Lara think then finding out they were the ones doing all good by being neutral - just like the Night court. Then the hidden treasure of the king where his people can stay safe is like Velaris.
"Since the moment I set eyes on you in Southwatch, there's been no one but you. Even if I'm a goddamned fool for it, there will never be anyone but you."
I'm not even gonna lie, I almost cried after reading this. Their sexual tension is off the charts!
Before this, I would have agreed when people say there's no perfect male MC except Rhys/Rowan or whoever SJM is writing... but I'm a changed person.
