CoHo books are always a nice palate cleanser when I just finished a great book.

I love the characters and especially the confessions. I love how art was woven into the words written by real people. It gives the confession a bit more visual.

Confessions are hard to make but after reading this, I kind of want to make a million.

I didn't think I'd go through this as quickly as I did. Although, I skimmed some parts.

I liked that we got to how everyone is after the war. I can't wait to start Cassian and Nesta's story.

I hated the fact that this book kept changing from first person to third. Threw me off a bit.

It's only a 3-star for me. I don't know. I liked it but not really. It was just there. I thought I'd see more Nesta. But nawwww -she only had a share of a chapter with Cassian's.

Maggie asked to have sex with him for her closure's sake within a month of him in Dallas. Just went straight to him and said "I think we should sleep together." This was only on the 2nd time she saw him since he was traded.

“Um, no. At my place. Or yours. Doesn’t matter. But we should definitely sleep together.”

3.5/5

I dived into this thinking it's mostly Summer chasing after Fitzy - which by the way is not a really hot nickname for a supposedly hot guy. The nickname reminds me of a kid with really thick glasses.

I did it! I came out of this alive. As alive as Nesta but not as improved.

2.5/5
SPOILERS!!!!

I realized at about 80% of this book that I do not enjoy character-driven books. And this 751-paged book is one of those. I wasn't planning on reading it. I thought I was over the Night Court and its circle after ACOWAR but seeing a lot of people like it, I read it. Such influence this community has. xD

I related to Nesta on some parts more than I thought I ever would. I must admit, I showed more kindness to others than I did my siblings. She found her own circle and I'm happy for her. Emerie and Gwyn were fitted to be her friends. They balanced each other out.

The house interacting with Nesta was one I really enjoyed reading, along with her training. I thought we'd see the brewing war that was spoken of in the beginning of the book but nah. I'm assuming this a prequel to the next book.

I'm just waiting for Az' story and I might stop there. I think I'm done with the Night Court. I wished to see other stories from the other courts too.

The book left me with questions. What of Tamlin in the incoming war? What happens to Koschei now? The Trove? What book will tell us why Eris left Mor like that? Lucien and Elain? (Elain, btw, could be erased from this book and nothing would have changed. Besides her being one of Nesta's trigger. She is dull like her wearing a black dress.)

Nesta was deemed the most powerful fae being Death herself and I kinda went WTF when she gave half of it up to save Feyre. NESTA DESERVES HER OWN KINGDOM! But when the possibility that Rhys and Feyre could be High KIng and Queen was brought up - I guess it would not be possible for Nesta to rule her own. Feysand remains the power couple. Ugh.

I'm kinda sad to say I really didn't feel a connection between Cassian and Nesta. I know, I know! I'm sorry!! :( I skimmed through their fucking and it was most that happened here. Both contemplating their own desires for one another. Who would make the first move. Man, it got boring.

The Blood Rite gave me chills. I would have been happier if this book consisted more of the women training and joining the war I thought was going to happen. That would have been amazing!

I wish for us to have the courage to go out into the world when we are ready, but to always be able to find our wya back to each other. No matter what."

Nesta deserved to have her own set of friends, to finally find peace within her, and to finally accept what she is.

*edit

I kept thinking last night before I went to bed and when I woke up that Nesta deserved better than this book. She deserved her own adventure and not just coming to terms with whatever the Night Court deems acceptable.

All I wanted was an Az chapter and for the Indigo version, all we got is the FeySand chapter. So unfair! I'm over FeySand, give me AZ!!!

kk. i'm done, fr.

"We met each other because that's where our choices led us."

I cried! This book is a great story about friendship and growth.

It was a wholesome read. I don't know what else to say other than this will be dear to my heart. I just know there'd be days I'll think about it and probably cry.

I feel so out of place in the middle of 4-5 stars reviews. This was a 2.5/5 at best for me.

There wasn't really anything special. The first few chapters caught my attention but it got boring because the characters just don't have enough in them, if that makes sense. I could not understand the different divisions of people until closer to the middle. Like the Scholars, Martials, etc. Why were they called such? What did each do before the empire took over? I only caught the explanation for the Scholars.

Laia is strongly driven by saving his brother. She does some stupid things that could have endangered Izzy. I did not see depth in her character.

As much as I liked Elias' chapters, it got boring at some point when all you read is about his hatred for the empire, guilt, trying to desert, and his ifs and whys.

Helene was the next best thing after Elias.

The romance felt forced. Keenan liking Laia when there's no connection besides the former's admiration for her father and as her handler. Laia and Elias were okay, predictable but still didn't feel the connection. Elias and Helene should at least been given the chance. He strongly denied loving her more than just his best friend but all his inner thoughts when he sees her says otherwise.

I wish we knew more of what Laia's parents did with The Resistance besides being their leader. What's their biggest accomplishment? How did they build The Resistance? What were their visions besides overthrowing their oppressors? How did The Resistance build their ranks after their initial leaders died? Why were their broken factions within it? I have so many questions. Maybe they'll be answered in the next books. We'll see how that goes.

I liked the challenges that were set to find the next emperor but that's just about it. Generic YA theme. The Resistance played sort of a big role in this but we never got enough of this.

I like it enough to continue on but it was meh. The writing bore me a bit. sorry. :(

Probably, would be selling my FL set after I finish it.

Arin was a boy, a slave, a grown man, free. He was all of this at once . . . and something else, too. He realized only now as he plunged his sword down toward the general's throat.

He hadn't been blessed by the god of death.

Arin was the god.

This scene is comparable to when Captain America caught Thor's hammer, in my head.

It was almost a 5-star read!

I just love, love, love this book. It suddenly brought me back to my childhood after watching Hercules. It almost seemed like time didn't pass between the last time I watched the movie and when I started this.

It did almost feel like reading a pre-teen book but that didn't stop my enjoyment with it. It's an easy read but it still lacked a bit of conflict. I didn't mind because everything tallied up at the end for me.

We get to see some flashbacks and I'm impressed how easily that was woven into the story without changing the font or chapter altogether.

The characters:
*Megara has always been fascinating to me as a kid and I adore her even more now. She learned to grow, accept, and mature during her quest. She tied all the loose-ends of her bitterness or any self-doubt she had. She was very hot-headed and almost lost in the middle but she pulled herself back. She rose!

*Phil, the lovable satyr. Here to help someone become a god again but this time - he formed an even more precious bond than he did with Hercules. His character here was very much like in the movie.

*Hades and Persephone were probably the characters that were a meh in this book. It gave the story a conflict but their parts just seemed rush.

*Athena, Aphrodite, and Hera helped Megara in her quest. She prayed and they mostly answered. Their part here was very adorable but again, made things a bit too easy.

Overall, I did enjoy the book. Megara is one underrated character in the Disney world and I'm glad they wrote a book for her. I hope ya'll enjoy this as much as I did, if not more.

It was okay. No actual plot, imo. Not a whole lot of things going on.

I liked the characters but I didn't find enough depth in them. This is an NA book bordering on Adult.

I skipped some pages because they go from talking about their feeling to imagining sexual acts they'll do to one another.
