Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige

Did not finish book. Stopped at 19%.
Was just boring and poorly written.
The cover and title are very cool. And the back of the book sounds promising...
But then you start reading it and it feels like a kids book. (Definitely not YA other than the odd swear word!)
I was going to read to page 100, but just couldn't force myself to read any more... yawn! A real shame!

Another pretty pointless short story. All about a cop under cover, who meets another undercover cop... The End... 1.25 stars as written ok, just not interesting!

I'm not a huge fan of short stories as they end just as they start to become interesting. This is a prime example. Loved the set up but then... The End... 2.5 stars for the idea I guess?

A really good Latmon book, and very different to his normal style of writting I found. This feels almost like someone else wrote it, other than Laymon. There is little sex, not very much gore, considering the length of teh text, and no obsanities. Yet, it still has those Laymon-isms in it.
Although some of the speach was very cringy in this book, as the main character comes from London England, so he says lots of weird stuff taht no one ever says. Like by the by, and splendid, and I had a bully time... etc. Those all sounded silly.
There were also some unbeleivable choices such as crossing the ocean from the UK to the US in a small craft with no crew, provisions, of any idea where they were going! But they landed right where they intended lol.
I did like the whole start and end with Jack teh Ripper, although he is missing from 89% of the book, so dont think this is a Ripper story really. Just a reason to go from one place to another.
This is the first Laymon book that I actually felt sad when I discovered someone died (I won't spoil who but if you read it you know). Also, I was kind of sad when the main character hooked up with a new love interest, after spending most of the book getting to build his 1st relationship.
Overall though, this was a well written story, a page turner, and a really interesting read.
I think it should have ended with the 'drinking of the Elixer' as that gave me chills, and teh last couple of pages, describing what happened next, were not needed.
I would give this one a 4 star rating!

I can not give this book more than a 2 star rating, the main reason being this book has nothing to do with a "Haunted House" or any "Ghosts" at all... the name and cover are very misleading, and just a cause of disapointment. (Being a fan of Dikens Christmas stories and Carol)
This however, is a collection of very random short stories by Dikens and his friends. And I feel that Dickens stories are the weaker of these stories too.
There were a couple of semi-intersting tales in there, but none of them really go anywhere and just seem to able along, and then end.
I would not recommend this book, though if you choose to read it anyway, just be aware this is not a tale about a "Haunted House"!
(Oh, and yes, this short book took me over two years to finally finish, as it was a bore)
