The idea and the plot were very interesting but I honestly wish there were more situations where the characters would have to navigate this strange occurrence (and we got to see other people's reactions and all that). Not really my cup of tea as far as the spice scenes go, but I think that's mainly because it all happened very quickly (I'd like a few more chapters to build up to it). All in all, extremely fascinating concept, just wish the execution was a bit different.

This book genuinely has it all! Wonderful characters, amazing setting and gorgeous lines that I shall remember forever. The plot was absolutely captivating and the main character was SOOOO relatable in my opinion. Also, I tend to be quite particular about the spice scenes I enjoy, but the author (literally 🤭) nailed those as well!! ❤️

Sappho's poetry is obviously stunning but the other reason I gave this book 5 stars is the gorgeous translation (and the fact that the ancient greek text was kept right next to it). Beautiful.

I absolutely hated the main character and loved the cats. It is pretty realistic, since that is exactly what happens in real life too,
the killer/abuser gets to live (in prison or even not sometimes), meanwhile the poor animals and wife had to die

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this short story, as it explored some philosophical theories about the world of ideas and the world of feelings and how important it is to utilise both logic and feelings in order to reach the truth. However, Poe does not shy away from aknowledging the fact that we should always draw a line. When somebody who is very intelligent utilises all aspects of logical thinking and human emotion to solve such big mysteries or even everyday enigmas, it is important to understand that ethics should also be taken into account. The whole thought process and the ways in which this person works, lose all their actual value, once they are used for selfish and utilitarian purposes. Overall, a pretty nice short story that acts as a reminder to check all of the parameters in a situation.
