i would have love giving this book more stars especially cause i was so excited to read Toni Morrison but unfortunely i had such a hard time with this, the writing was beautiful (as expected) but the story loose me quite a lot i wished it was more focus on the little girl but sadly we spend so much times with characters that i don't care about
I read it almost entirely in one day which I didn't expected cause I'm currently in a reading slump which show how much I was invested
I saw people complaining about the character of his wife, saying that the writing for this character was misogynistic but I disagree, she was one of my favorite thing in this book, cause yes she act like a bitch to him but it make sense : she is in a loveless marriage that she didn't had the chance to refuse.
I could have read a book with her as a mc and eat it up, she's a woman living in a prison named patriarchy and she's angry about it at a time. Nothing about her was caricatural

chef's kiss, this book is very disturbing but it works and that cause of it that it works, we follow Natsuki in the aftermath of being raped and with see how trauma affect people and how much you can feel isolated
definitely no everyone tho
definitely no everyone tho
Graphic: Child abuse, Rape, Violence
(not gonna rate memoirs)
