Short little read that was entertaining and easygoing.
Perhaps due to it being a translation and adapted from Kawaguchi’s play, it does sometimes read slightly “off” however it is a brilliant concept that would be great to read in its original language.
Read in one sitting and throughly enjoyed the characters and how they interact with each others stories

This is R.F Kuangs writing debut?!?!

Immediately bought the next two books in the trilogy.
Best fantasy i’ve read so far! The military elements are fascinating and I found myself looking into the real history behind it, which made this book even sadder but shines a light on part of history I had never encountered before.
The characters are well written and unlike a lot of other fantasy books recently read, are full of depth and likeable! gripping and morally grey.
