Ok finally the secret is out but now I have to WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE???? Rude
Holy moly this book felt very profound to me. A combination of the Truly Devious Series and Night Film, but one that works in a lot of complex gender politics and discussions.
It was slow to start because I was expecting a mystery thriller from the get-go. So it took a bit of an investment at the beginning but I think it was worth it.

4.5⭐️ Do you ever wish that the King Killer Chronicles has more women, more queerness, and more pirates? Me too. This is the perfect answer to that!
3.5⭐️ I thought this book was very cute. But I think it’s reputation led me to think that it would be some sort of revelation and it wasn’t that for me.
The first 100 pages were significantly darker than I was expecting. And although the rest of the book was a much easier, enjoyable read, I’m not sure I would have finished it at all if my mom didn’t tell me it was worth it lol.

I will read anything K. O’Neill writes. Their art is just so cozy and beautiful.
For readers who love the eerie atmosphere and fantastical family in A Series of Unfortunate Events, The Swifts is a charming story about family, self discovery, and scrabble to the death.
2.5⭐️
Pretty unsettling, beautiful imagery, very gross.
I think I was hoping for a little more ambiguity. The first few pages suggested a lyrical and wandering horror novella. It became more specific which I think some readers will greatly enjoy, but I wish it had stayed a bit more detached.
I received this arc as part of my bookseller position at Barnes & Noble.
