The Expanse series is just great, a fun romp around the galaxy, with interesting characters who develop over the series. becoming better-rounded people. This latest in the series is probably the least fantastic, but clearly sets up a fantastical plot for the forthcoming series finale. I look forward to reading it.
First sci fi novel ever to blow my mind. But that was 20 years ago. On re-reading, I enjoyed it, but wasn't as wowed as I remember being. My fault for being a jaded old man.
A close, personal examination of the life, love, and loss of middle class Igbo peoples in the lead up to and for the duration of the Biafran war. And the that war, while brutal and punishing, takes a back seat to the personal lives, loves, and losses of the people living through it. Not a political book, but an empathetic, humane story of personal relationships of different personalities against the backdrop of the war. A tough but essential read.
