This is one of those books that might come off bland on an initial read but after some time it really sticks and you start to see what Shirley Jackson was doing and the result is heartbreaking

It’s not scary at all just a beautifully tragic exploration of loneliness 

Also ??? Very queer coded gal pals ?!! Much relate !

This was such a sweet and touching read. The positive representation literally made me cry tears of joy but I felt like some of the build up to these character moments weren’t always earned and happened too quickly for me to fully enjoy it or buy into it. The pacing was a bit too messy at times.But I understand the tone is for a slightly younger audience and even though I don’t really like cheesy stories this one made me very happy :)
