One for the Murphys by Lynda Mullaly Hunt

Very amazing - I have hardly read many books on kids in foster care, which is why I'm glad I read this one! I loved the Murphy family a lot, which is why I kind of wish the ending ended different, but I guess it was inevitable.
The Alchemist by Paolo Bacigalupi

Pretty amazing, and the world in the book is so much like ours. I only wish the novella was longer, and had more back-story info.
The Lottery and Other Stories by Shirley Jackson

While I didn't have time to read all of the stories, most of the stories (like "The Witch", and especially "The Lottery") were very good.
Mad Cowboy: Plain Truth from the Cattle Rancher Who Won't Eat Meat by Howard F. Lyman

Really good! I mostly liked reading about the author's personal story and switch to a vegetarian diet, because many of the meat facts have been ingrained in me from all of the other veg books I've read.
Why We Love Dogs, Eat Pigs, and Wear Cows: An Introduction to Carnism: The Belief System That Enables Us to Eat Some Animals and Not Others by Melanie Joy

Very, very fascinating...
The Manual of Aeronautics: An Illustrated Guide to the Leviathan Series by Scott Westerfeld

Loved the detail of all of the imaginary machines and beasts, and I wish it was published when the Leviathan series came out!
Foretold: 14 Tales of Prophecy and Prediction by Carrie Ryan

Some of the stories were really boring, others quite interesting. My favorites were Diana Peterfreund's "Burned Bright" and Malinda Lo's "One True Love".
The Braid by Helen Frost

The poetry was really nice, though sometimes the story moved too slowly.
The Dark Knight Rises: The Official Novelization (Movie Tie-In Edition) by Greg Cox
