Rarely do I feel like it’s possible to properly express just how terrible emotional abuse is, but the author manages to do it so well that it hurts. The addition of a queer perspective makes it all the more necessary. This is brilliant, heart wrenching, and incontestably poetic.

This was just a little too cliché for me. I can see why others would enjoy this, it just wasn’t for me. Also, while I am completely sympathetic to Nora’s plight I also respect the writing enough to say, flat out, that she comes off as very whiny and naive. I think this is partly due to the book treating Nora as the reader who it’s beating over the head with life lessons. Unfortunately, in two words I’d describe this as depressing (for a majority of the book) and YAWN.

Have not and will not read this book, this was clearly a money grab that shouldn’t be entertained for a fairly obvious reason to most. She’s participated in lifelong exploitation and abuse of her sister, it’s despicable.
