Just gorgeous. I loved this so much! Maybe my favourite art ever.
The Mab: Eleven Epic Stories from the Mabinogi by Eloise Williams, Matt Brown

A lovely and very accessible introduction to Welsh fairy tales. The stories also being presented in Welsh is such a nice touch as are the illustrations.
The stories are simplistic but they certainly make you want to dive in and tackle the originals. It’s clear so much love went into this retelling and I really appreciate that it exists.

American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer by Kai Bird, Martin J. Sherwin

I didn’t expect to be quite so fascinated by Oppenheimer after watching the film but here we are.
Honestly, this really didn’t go into much that the film didn’t but it was a very enjoyable read and I really appreciated diving deeper into some of the other people who were in the film but didn’t get much development - particularly the women.
Learning more about his background and childhood was also interesting. I’d definitely recommend if you just want to dig a little deeper.

Excellent Arab military fantasy with an immersive world and endearing, interesting characters. The art was breathtaking with so much attention to detail that you can see the passion put into drawing even the smallest tile.
It’s always wonderful to see more Middle Eastern-inspired fantasy stories in the world, I just wish this had been longer (or more than one volume) because a lot of the events feel rushed and idealistic as a result. If the characters had had more time to come to certain decisions the weight of them would feel even more impactful.
I couldn’t put it down though and am very excited to see more from them.

Stunning art and fast paced and whimsical storyline. I haven’t enjoyed a graphic novel as much as this in ages.
Safe and Sound: A Renter-Friendly Guide to Home Repair by Mercury Stardust

I bought this because I love Mercury’s tiktok presence but what a useful book!
Everything from your rental rights, to fixing simple (and complicated) things around your home, plus how to fix damage and temporarily decorate. I think every renter/homeowner could make use of this book. It’s very accessible and encouraging. I’ll definitely be referring to it a lot.
Also the illustrations are gorgeous!!

My partner gave me this because I wanted something I could read in a few hours while I waited for them.
It’s a lovely spiritual book about finding joy, purpose, and ritual in your life.
It’s similar to other books I’ve read but it’s been a while so it was nice to be reminded to unplug and look around once in a while.
