📍”What did it mean that I loved to argue with this woman so f much?”

📍”He truly was breathtaking. I loved him and h*ted him all at the same time. That j*rk had made me fall in love with him.”

📍”It’s Saturday,” he said. “I hate Saturdays without you.”

My favorite sports romance series is over. 😭

I’m not crying, you’re crying.

No. I AM CRYING 😭 They’re happy tears. They’re sad tears. They’re 7 weeks of tears. In the bedroom. In the kitchen. In the living room.

The treasure state wildcats stormed my heart and left no untouched piece of it behind. But there wasn’t any other way of ending this than with Maverick. With Stevie. With this incredible sad heartbreak and this breathtaking love of theirs. I felt every piece of it. I never looked away. And never something fake felt so real.

Devney Perry has long been a favorite of mine. And when I think she can’t possibly write a new series that will top my top favorites… she says, “hold your latte” and swoops my literary heart away.

‼️Spoilers at blurb level‼️

📍“As much as I want you to run, I’m too selfish to give you up.”

📍“I won’t lose you, not even to yourself.”

📍“This will only ever be yours. You could leave me or even meet Malek, and it still would be. I’ve made my peace with knowing there’s no getting over you.”

Took me a month to find the right amount of time to read Onyx Storm. But I wouldn’t change it for the world. I had the time to savor it, to digest it, to make it part of my very soul… piece by piece.

This felt like a Book 2. Now, I know some of you guys detest Book 2s cadence. It’s slower in a sense, with lots of things happening but also nothing really major going on. I, on the other hand, adore Book 2s. All my immense need for information to start flowing so I can start making a better sense of things is satiated with Book 2s. Book 2s is where I connect with secondary characters (Mira, I adore you 😭) and where I see the resilience of the main ones.

There’s no “will they, won’t they.” There’s no final battle to worry about… yet. There’s just lots of plotting, secrets uncovered and a healthy dose of twists I never see coming. Book 2s make or break a series. And this “I feel like a book 2” Onyx Storm solidified my unwavering love for The Empyrean.

Lose it all. But never her. 🖤

📍“I wish you weren’t seeing me like this.”
“Like what?”
“At my worst.”
“Then it’s all uphill from here, baby. It’s going to make seeing you at your best so damn special.”

📍“Does love start off as obsession? Because that’s what I am.”

📍“I remember thinking she was fierce and loyal and fvcking incredible. I remember wondering what it would feel like to have someone like Tabitha love you.”

I remember reading Wild Love and thinking it was the book of my dreams.

I remember reading Wild Eyes and thinking it was the book of my soul.

I remember finishing Wild Side a few nights ago and thinking it was the book of my heart.

This deep connection, this endless love for 410 pages of words, this infinity adoration for two characters that made themselves unforgettable.

I don’t know, Rhys, if love starts off as an obsession. But I am completely obsessed with you and Tabby Cat.

Elsie Silver had me exposed and vulnerable with Reckless - two things only exceptional books can do to you. But with Wild Side? She left no corner untouched inside me. This book felt monumental in its quality, inevitable in its capacity to make me live (in) a story.

Thank you so much @authorelsiesilver and @periwinkle._.pony for this ARC.

📍“So, no more friend zone.”
“I fvcking hate the goddamn friend zone.”

📍 “I’m the one you always ran to before, and that’s how it’s going to be now.”

I’ve been missing this little corner of Montana something fierce. And I’ve also been low key obsessed with Bridger since Holden and Millie’s story. So, you can pretty much imagine how excited I was reading this one 😁

But need to say something. I know the Blackwells are up there with the Wilds, but I’m quite head over heels with the Lexingtons. We already knew how swooning the brother was, but these sisters… my goodness, I’m not sure if I want to be them when I grow up (specially you Alex 😌) or to be their best friend — just call me Skyla.

You know this is a fire chief single dad who was slightly too old for his best friend’s sister back when she was over the moon with him but now he is not that much older and she’s back and driving him crazy from across the street where he lives, right?! *takes a breath * RIGHT?! R. I. G. H. T. ?. I don’t think I need much more to convince you to grab this one. At least, I don’t if we’re friends 😜

That epilogue and sneak peek has me all kinds of excited for the next book 😱

📍“No one has ever made me feel seen, valued, and appreciated as much as her. I know how lucky I fvcking am.”

Okay, Carys is sunshine. No, not just like the sunshine in the grumpy x sunshine trope. Nope. She IS pure *sunshine* on every page. What a delight of a character 😌💛

But Gannon is the one who stole my heart. He is one of my favorite Brewer siblings, hands down. His journey to finding a heart was so beautiful 😭 I just wanted to hug him while fanning myself 🥵

Adriana Locke, we thank you profusely for the lack of a 3rd act breakup. I don’t think I would’ve survived it 🫣

And thank you @authoradrianalocke for this ARC.

📍“I want to be the one to calm your fears, to empower you, to be the one you seek out to find refuge.”

After that Mr. Broody ending, I think we were ALL counting the days until Mr. Swoony (the same way we’ve been patiently waiting on Tweetie’s story 😭). And while expectations couldn’t have been higher, Piper Rayne delivered on every single one.

Conor and Eloise made themselves very comfortable inside my heart, without even knocking on the door. They just stormed in apologetically, knowing d*mn well they were going to wreck me really good.

Of all things I could point out that made this book so perfect, I think I have to highlight the cadence. The pace and flow of this story was one of the best I’ve read all year. It just… kept going so smoothly and unbothered that there’s no way I was going to put this down.

Hockey romance will forever be the superior sports romance. 😜

I’m not ready to leave the nest 😭😭😭

📍“It’s more than jealousy, Beth. I feel like my fcking guts are being ripped out.”

📍“Stop it.”
“Stop what?”
“Making me love you more. I can’t handle it.”

It feels full circle reading @authorsamanthayoung say that this book wouldn’t exist without @catherinecowlesauthor . Because this is my new favorite Samantha Young. Yes, it dethroned the Ardnoch world, which I thought to be impossible.

Back in 2023, I read my first Samantha Young and immediately knew I needed her books forever in my life. So, I did what any person in my position would’ve done: I (hopefully not too creepily) slid into her DMs to beg for a chance to apply to her ARC team. Fast forward to 2025 and I couldn’t imagine being a reader without reading Samantha Young books.

But On Loverose Lane hit me like a hurricane. Callan, Beth (and Baird) are some of the best characters I’ve ever read. Their development, both individually and as a duo, was as inspiring as it was a brilliant work of art. And the way I didn’t see that ending coming (no, not that… the other part) had me sobbing like a prep cook cutting onions ahead of the lunch rush.

All of this to say, thank you Samantha Young for saying yes to me those years ago, thank you for sharing your incredible talent with us, thank you for letting me meet Callan and Beth (and Baird) and thank you for being friends with Catherine Cowles so she could convince you to write this series 😁

I didn’t just read this book. I lived it because this book is now part of the fabric of my heart. Move aside morally gray heroes, I’m now in my Miles era. Some might say he is a golden retriever. But he is so much more. I mean, a former marine who falls first?! I mean.

The guy passes on notes to her through his assistant. Notes!!!!! Little cute notes, that she gets with his coffee order. I’m so unwell in the best way possible. This book is peak romance and I have no choice now but to move to Ember Falls. I don’t make the rules.

Did I cry with this one?

Yes. I dare anyone read a scene like that and not shed a tear or two 😭🥹 The most devastating beautiful moment ever.

📍“If heartbreak insurance was a thing, my premium would be sky-high.”

📍“You can’t base your own value on the words and actions of others because there are some sh!tty people in this world who’ll take advantage of that.”

The moment I opened this book on my Kindle and started reading I realized two things: I love Amber Palmer’s writing AND I love Josie and Lincoln. The connection is not always immediate, specially if I’m reading a new author to me — which was the case as this was my first AP. But Amber Palmer had me eating out of her literary hand in 5 words flat.

Josie and Lincoln’s story doesn’t ask permission to start. Oh no, it kicks down that door and barges into our hearts with all the fire I would quickly identify as so inherently theirs. The time jump did break my heart but Amber took some swooning duck tape and patched it up brand new in no time.

A mouthy bartender is top.
A boy obsessed cowboy is the peak.

📍“Sleep, princess. No one will ever hvrt you again. Not even me.”

📍“Even when you h*ted me, I loved you. Even when I thought I h*ted you, I loved you more.”

I’ve been trying to come up with words to review this book. To tell Bella Matthews how my heart feels now that I’ve found her books. To tell her how upset I am at myself for not finding them sooner. To explain how I consumed and was consumed by Lilah and Killian. How knowing broke me too. How I fell for them.

I’ve been trying and failing to put down on paper all the feelings I have now that I’ve finished Captivating. Everything is… not enough. I have so many of them and the words… feel so little.

So, maybe I won’t. I will just love this book with no expiration date. I will just hold it and smile. I will just go down memory lane when missing them gets too much. And I’ll just get Bella’s entire backlog immediately.

Thank you.
