In comes her dark prince in shining Lykae Garreth Mac-Rieve Lykae who yearns for the return of his brother to return to his throne.

He might be her biggest weakness as she is "riding his crotch like a wanton as she sucked his tongue." His love as per his Lyake origin grows stronger each day: "Now you've taken... the heart from my chest."

Lucia...Mistress of mixed signals with her cryptic words:. "the more I like you, the less I want you to know my secrets."

Then when she confesses she is married and who her husband is :

"Because... because I'm his wife." I felt the stab of these words through my own heart.

Their true feelings are shown in the end though:

"What was worse? Knowing that she'd lost him? Or that she might miss him more than her archery...?"

"What gives you the right to risk yourself?" He snapped, "Because you could move on if something happened to me (feels)

"I need you to know this. I'm in love with you."

After his battle he has lost himself to the beast unable to come to terms with her death.

After realization sets, the tables have turned and she must now hunt for Garrett who has turned ful Lykae with no sight of the man:

"I came here for my man, and I'm not leaving without him. If I have to live in there with Garreth, I will."

"Aunt Luce, would you bet your life on that?"..........................."He is my life now."

Malcolm Slaine and Carrow the Witch are one of my favorite stories in this series because it is so unique and touches you to the core.

Malcome known for overcoming whatever life threw at him has waged battles that almost overthrew the vampire. In retalation Malcome and his king and only friend Kallen have been hybrid into a vampire demon (venom) by the Vampire trying to take over their plane. He now became an abomination to his kind and the thing which they hate most. Forced to kill his only friend he battled vicious attacks by the vampires who created him to forget everything about his demon lifestyle and to embrace the blood lust. With one more enemy remaining "Ronath" he awaits him in the desert ready to end his revenge and seek the nobility which he so craves.

In walks Carrow who has been imprisoned by mortals bent on experimenting on them. As if matters could not get any worst she is now saddled with Ruby as both her parents are deceased. She is tasked with bringing Malcome to the facility in exchange for freedom.

Their meeting and then progression of their relationship really connected with me much more than the others because he was from a different culture trying to impress her and learn to please her. As he realized she was his fated mate he began to loose his old anger and resentment trying to find a way to connect with her:"He gazed at her like she was his last sunrise."

His general lack of experience with everything from showering to brushing his teeth made it more human and emotional. How she perceived him was important to him than anything else.

"She was going extreme makeover demon edition on him"

His old resentment swelled even deeper when he could not communicate his emotions or his lack of experience to her. Their communications though barred by words were much deeper. His resentment at not being nobility and not feeling good enough for her was deep.

"He'd had no family. Hers didn't deserve her. Then we will be family. Never will I be separated from her. Carrow is mine."

Demon meets girl. Girl might be falling for demon

First time in reading a series have I found a man to be too worthy of his woman. Too noble and kind for her deceit. His need to have something, to claim her as his own as no one else wanted to was so strong

"She is my female. Mine.I claim her before all."

"Bound forever?" And somehow she met his gaze and lied, "Yes, demon. Bound forever."
"Carrow is Malkom's."

This is the true meaning of loving unconditionally with no bounds. His heart cannot contain the joy he feels at having found something worth living for, a future.

I really felt hurt for him for the imminent betrayal he would feel when she leads him to the portal to deceive him. He who went without any dreams ever coming true would hurt the deepest. The fact that he sacrificed his revenge against Ronath for her... Sacrificed everything he knew in order to be with her.

He gazed down at her not with the expression of a man who was happy with his fate, but with the expression of a man who'd slaughter anyone who tried to change that fate...

This is what I love most about the author. She gives you a solution sooooo not what you were thinking but a zillion times better. The entrance of La Dorada literally shaking everything to its core was intense!

then everything happens all at once in a rush: It becomes known that Ruby will be a really "Badass", Malcome realizes why Carrow betrayed him, everyone gets freed and all hell breaks loseeeeeee.

When Mals collar is broken he becomes the monsters that monsters feared. He is exposed to a land he only heard about in whsipers, where water feel from the sky and food was plentiful from the sea. He finds himself as protector of Crow and her young Ruby.

"She will turn to me, and I will take her troubles away...." I am literally crying when he learns the truth about Ruby and then helps Carrow. This man is so giving !!!!

Can he forgive her of the grave wrong she committed against him? Making him a prisoner yet again? Taking away his sought after freedom? As Crows feelings deepen his became even more confusing to him:

"I love you, Malkom. Shut up. But I do."

"Stop saying that," he commanded, bucking his hips, driving his shaft deep within her. He looked down at her as if he hated her, as if he wanted to punish her for loving him - even as she could sense his emotions, could sense how much he yearned for her too.

"Are you trying to hurt me?"

When he collapsed over her, she gazed above him at the misty sky, tears welling as she hurt for him - hurt with him.

Then Ruby and Malkom began bonding, both who lost their parents but have Caro. As for the lack of trust Malkom had for her it stunk her bitterly and reminded her of how her parents made her feel. His refusal to accept her cut her deep with yearning and longing yet he was also hurt and afraid to loose her.

"A life he wasn't a part of. He glanced back in Carrow's direction. So close. Yet loneliness weighed on him, worse than any of his nights in that infernal mine.Because now I know what I am missing...."

Then she was wrenched from him forcing him to learn how to trace to her to hear her confession of love and her claim on him:

"I'm not done with you, wife." She twisted around to face him. Instead of being outraged or wary, her expression was fierce. "Good, because I will never be done with you, Malkom.

Father. A new purpose for him, a new name. Something to take the place of bastard, slave, murderer. A whore's get...

"A witch holds my life in her palm. Ara, I live or die for you. Carrow is Malkom's."

Regina the radiant and Aidan king of the Berserkers

"'Eyes like amber cast in sun, skin and hair of firelit gold. Formed to war, courage as none, beauty to behold.' You are Reginleit the Radiant."

Regin abandoned her home in the heavens to seek her sister Lucia. Even at the tender age of twelve she won over her husband who sensed his mate. "I come to you as a man unfinished". As a berserker Aidan is unrefined and savage thinking only of the basic needs. His love for Regin enchants him to think of no other except her. In his desires for her he seeks to claim ohala so he can become an immortal like her.

His death by a vampire then his consequent reincarnations throughout his lifetime seeking her ends in tragedy with his memories resurfacing and his ultimate death. In this life he is Chase, a member of the order hellbent on killing immortals due to tragedies faced as a child. He is molded at a young age to hate and kill everything abnormal suppressing his inner berserker.

As he captures and stabs Regin he feels pain and emotion since his parents death. He knows she affects him but doesn't even know the depths of their connection. Regin the Radiant the infamous partygirl and ever present life of the party slowly begins to dim and she tries to win chase over without bringing Aidan out to enact the curse.

Her humor and crass language are not exceptions in this book:

"I finally understand what a dickie-do is. Your gut does stick out more than your dickie do."

"I don't have the time or patience for games. Now, tell me, why do you ... glow? I touched a radioactive alien c**k once." HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

"Release the hounds, muthafuckas!"

Her hatred of him grows with each page and she realizes she cannot bring her lover forth. As she is ripped apart by Dixon her legendary Valkyrie anger rocks the facility and cements her loathe for him. As La Dorada rocks the facility and she escapes with her Fey and half vamp cellmates along with Lothaire who extorts payments in exchange for assistance from Chase she finds her feelings for Chase and not Aidan growing.

"I am done with the Order, done with Webb. Face it, Regin. You're the only friend I have in the world."

"Beautiful Aidan had never had to back down before anyone, had never been embarrassed a day in his life. Yet her hand decided to reach for Chase's, and her stupid fingers felt the need to lace with his.The look he gave her as he tightened his grasp was one she'd never seen from him before. Tenderness."

"Did the big bad Blademan just have a funny feeling in his chest?"His gaze pinned hers, and he rasped one word. "Aye."

As their relationship progressed, she learned his awful secrets and the origin of his scars. She began to feel once again only to feel the slap of betrayal:

"Worse, it'd taken her several seconds to react to the sight of them together. She'd been almost hypnotized by the scene as Lothaire drank. Chase's masculine face had been tense, his gray eyes focused on the ground. Lothaire's face had been starkly beautiful, his pale blond hair brushing Chase's shoulder.Light and dark. One terrible, one tragic. And Lothaire had been... hard. "Oh, gods!" she cried as she ran back along the trail. Hot poker for my eyes! Hot poker!"

Why couldn't she have stumbled upon Chase and Brandr necking? That would've been crazy hot. LOLLLLL even in the face of hurt she humors me.

Their hardships were so much :

"But the curse-Has no reign over me, no' over us. The past has no hold!" He brushed his battered knuckles along her cheek again and again. "Can you see me, see the man that I am? Accept me, Regin, because I'm holdin'on to nothin' but you."

And then as per their curse, death comes:

"Sorry 'bout this, lass." Brandr punched a tree, roaring with grief."Don't talk, Chase! We're going to get you fixed."

"You were right ... I'm not returnin', Regin. No! I-I didn't mean what I said. Wil no' do this to you again."

"What? Shut up! You have to come back. You f**king have to."

"I love you ... too much. Find an immortal male to be with you." He gritted his teeth.

She knew how hard it'd been for him to say that. "I want you!" She probably should caress his face lovingly; instead, she clasped his chin and gave his head a rude shake. "I love you, dumbass!"

When she prayed to the statue of her father Wooden to save him *tears*

Her father who she thought turned his back on her loves her till this day.

Another character who I can't wait to read about it Brandr !!!!!!! He is truly loyal and I cant wait for him to find his woman

Holding the man's gaze, Declan said, "I'll protect Regin from now on. I'm releasing you from that oath, Brandr." He cleared his throat. "You've been a true friend. You have my gratitude and always will ."

Another one I can't believe is young Thad half vampire, half phantom-one of the rarest Lore mixes ever to live. I really like him with his Southern Charm and his manners. I need his story !

Lothaire Daciano, the Enemy of Old !!!1 I cannot begin to describe how excited I was to get down in this book. Loth was meant to be a prince but was a bastard child in his own Kingdom. His father was Stefanovich-the king of the Vampire Horde which means Lothy is a PRINCE !!!! Told as a child he was not good enough, trying hard to protect his mother from their brutal king. Both were banished because his mother would not bow to the king and his mortal mistress. After their banishment from a young age she taught him to harbor hate and planted the seeds of revenge for his father. Kill him before he finds his bride she cautioned.. Gain allegiance from the Horde

In walks Ms. Ellie Pierce mortal being occupied by Saroya the Queen Soul Reaper is the goddess of death and blood. Ellie just want to be the first of her hill billy lot to go to college but alas she is trapped with Saroya who lands her in prison then death row only to be saved by Lothaire.

Their relationship at the beginning is boy wants goddess inside girl but not girl and girl wants boy (Typical right?)

Their banter and her slow seduction of his mind from darkness to the light was super funny to read:

"He called her a mortal kmart checkout beneath him ! Been called worse, mister.- Bootlegger, moonshiner, Elly May Clampett, mountain mama, redneck, backwoods Bessie, hick, trailer trash, yokel, and, more recently, death-row con."

Then the real seduction begins as little Ms. Virgin Ellie rocks his world. She began a game of temptation, to mke him want her, to replace Saroya in his mind as his mate. So he would choose her instead :

"When you do recount my clumsy attempts to Saroya, be sure to mention the part where I rode you like a lazy horse and made you cream-jeans faster than a fifteen-year-old schoolboy squeezin' a tit for the first time." FIRECRACKERRRRRRRR

I also like the euphemism Rubber band (snapping her back to reality). As she was dealt some serious whammies- learning about immortals, seeing them, falling in love, having penetration. I mean how's a girl to cope ??????

There is some sick play at work in Lothaire wanting Soroya to be his bride when she did not even want him as opposed to Ellie who reacted to him so fiercely. He kept thinking in his mind that she could never be his until eventually she wasn't:
" That a mere mortal virgin girl would make him question his own future? Make him question his revenge? So intent was he that he could never see past that. She calmed him as no other...just as Hag had predicted."

Of course Lothaire and Phenix would have a past. I yearn for info on her.. she was betrothed to Loki AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH NEED MOREEEEEEEEEE

She spared him when they were younger and have fought alongside him and allies and enemies for centuries.

The Saroya herself is such a bitch I couldn't wait for La Dorada to kick her ass

"Why aren't you even trying to seduce me? You feel no desire for me. You never have. I can wait for the human-who does. How do you know it won't be better with me? Because it can't possibly be better with anyone." SCORE for team Ellie !!!!

Then of course eventually he begins warming up to Ellie girl and her hot perverted ways:
"Saroya can't want you as much as I do, Lothaire. No one can. I've been aching for you."

"When I-I'm gone, will you . . . will you t-tell my children about me? Will you t-take care of them. Just be at ease for now, Elizabeth. Why couldn't y-you and Saroya just leave m-me alone? I only ever w-wanted to live."GUT TWISTINGGGGGGG

Either he was developing a conscience, or Ellie Ann Peirce was his Bride. She might be my bride but she cannot be my queen. (REALIZATION)

"I did, in fact, come loaded for bear. Only to find a butterfly."

"I never knew it could be like this. Lothaire, I've never felt closer to another. Voice thick, he admitted, "Neither have I."

The fact that he was willing to hold back his sexual tendencies for her to experience sex fully really spoke of his commitment to her

Tonight, Lothaire, you don't get to be a vampire with her.

"Little mortal, you've changed everything."Because he was feeling something stronger for her-a bone-deep feeling of possessiveness, of protectiveness. No one would ever harm the female in his arms, not even himself. "Because you are my Bride, Lizvetta. And I've got many years to make up for."

I would say time to roll out the epiphany. "Boy loves girl and not Goddess and goes to kill himself instead of harming her and breaking vows."

Before Ivana had gone to meet her death, Lothaire had asked her, "How can you do this?" At last he understood her answer. Because anything that is worthy in me began with Elizabeth.

Shoulders back, he traced outside to meet dawn, challenging an enemy he'd eluded all his life.An enemy he now prayed would defeat him.

Que the DRAMA (Capital and !!!!!!!) Dorado swings in and begins attacking from a side then eventually the shit hits the fan:

It is foretold that La Dorada, the Queen of Evil and of Golds, a sorceress of great power, will destroy Saroya the Soul Reaper, Goddess of Divine Death, condemning her to the Ether that spawned her, forever as formless as the chaos whence she sprang. . . .Saroya's last thought: My actions had a consequence.

Then after all the drama the Dacians swoop in to claim him as their King WHATTTTTTTTTTTTTT
After he discards poor Ellie he realizes: "each being had a unique key to his or her happiness. Mine was Elizabeth. Because of her actions, she'd robbed Lothaire of his key."

Fav quote: "My sanity will fail me long before my will does. Luckily, the only thing more interesting than a madman is a relentless one."
