The writing style of this book was gorgeous but it was a bit too slow-paced for my liking and I found the magic system confusing. Great NB rep and probably a wonderful book for people who like a slow slow burn but not my cup of tea!
This book picked up right where The Other Side of the Mirror left off! I absolutely adore Eva and Bash, their story, and how neither of them are the typical fantasy-romance MC. The middle of the book did fall a little flat for me, but the last parts of the book sprang into action and wrapped things up in a (seemingly) clean ending...but this is a trilogy so we'll see 👀
If you love the fated mates trope, good banter/spice, and some angst thrown into the mix, you'll love this book!
Thank you to The Nerd Fam for the gifted ARC. #themirroredtrilogy #thenerdfam
this book felt like i was reading her diary in the best way possible. i do wish there was more mention of her marriage and divorce as that felt like it would be important, but i understand why she wouldn't include it. highly recommend!
i finished this book this morning. the story follows millie, a 24-year-old RA who is trying to finish her studies, secure a job for after graduation, and buy a house. a visiting writer/professor offers her an opportunity to earn money arranging interviews for research for her book. however, the two quickly become entangled and things spiral beyond what both of them could have predicted.
i'll start by saying i didn't dislike this book by any means. i'm a fan of reid's writing style and the characters were all very developed. however, a lot of the backstory they were each given was touched upon once and never visited again. the two "pranks" that were treated as major plot points did not feel to me as a reader to be depicted as being big deals. i was definitely able to immerse myself in this book but came away confused? still would recommend but not as highly as reid's other book, such a fun age.
⭐️: 3.5 stars (probably wouldn't read again but not a bad book. maybe just not my cup of tea! 🍵)
