Emily Riddle is sharp, brilliant and witty. She captures the ups and downs of millennial life on the prairies, anger in colonialism and climate change, nehiyaw joy and more. I saw her read poems at the Griffin poetry prizegiving where she was amazing. I loved this book, I loved that she forced me to bring out the Cree dictionary app and to learn. Brava.
One of my most memorable books read in 2022. Super fun mystery, and I am endlessly fascinated by papal drama so this was right up my alley. The ending will be controversial but enjoy the mystery and drama of the conclave for what it is.
Marvelesque and cringe prose... I pushed through because of all the raves this book has gotten, but I could only take so much of the "just kidding! ..... Or am I...?" cringe one liners. I think the last straw was the "Blueser, your mission objective is in another castle".
